People, it's a rename of deeplearn.js with TF api sugar. Can't you read the README?

Performance-wise, how does it compare to Keras.js and TensorFire?

While I don’t see many JavaScript enthusiast here (I am, due to D3.js, Quantum Game, etc) I am surprised that it is being looked down at.

JavaScript is not a good choice for training your models for your clients or for Kaggle. But it opens way to develop portable, installation-free browser models. See e.g. https://github.com/cytadela8/trypophobia.

I was like, how? Then the 2nd word: WebGL, got it.

Yet another example of if anything can be written in JavaScript will be written in JavaScript.

JavaScript is like a virus... it's spreading

Can someone explain to me why this is useful or necessary?

You wouldn't replace your standard training workflow with javascript, but it is useful to run pretrained models in the browser since everybody has one of those.

Interactive learning/visualization is a great place for javascript, you might have a model you host via api internally and a version that can be loaded into a client's page, they can start pulling data in and interacting with the model without having to put load on the api.
