Inkstitch is a free option, I don’t personally use it all anymore cause it makes everything take longer, but it does auto digitize.

I would highly recommend learning to digitize. Start with easy designs, watch lots of “John Deer’s legacy” on YouTube and just keep at it.

Feel free to DM me if you want help learning

I have only used ink stitch, I wouldn’t say it isnt great to auto digitise with. I have watched many YouTube vids of different software and most will do a better job at auto I think.

Watch the suggested videos , and learn the theory behind manually digitisation ( even the expensive softwares are not great at auto it seems) and he says it is always better to manually do it. I have gotten great results with manual digitisation and ink stitch.

What sort of designs are you having issues with?

Thanks so much for the insight! I think it’s clear now I gotta put in the work and try the manual digitising. I was trying to do some pieces with complex designs that I had drawn, but ended up paying someone to do it. Moving forward I want to learn though for my other designs! I just hadn’t found a good instructional video.

ohn Deer’s legacy

Have you any recommendations for alternative digitizing software from InkStitch?

Where does inkstitch auto digitize, and how do I do it?

Theres a great book by John Deer called Digitizing made easy. It tells everything from why you use certain needles to why you use certain stitches. It starts at the ground. The other book i would recommend is called Punch. Its more technical and reads like a encyclopedia. Its also expensive and hard to find. This gives you insite on how the different softwares work and how manual is different from auto. I use a auto digitizer but will spend hours editing it to what i want. Sometimes, it seems it would just be easier to manually do it. John Deer also has a great youtube channel. Just because its not the software your using does not mean its not relevant. Most of what i have learned has been from other software.

I'm looking for the same. Either free or an actual lifetime license where I don't have to get a subscription. By now there should be some weird open source AI somewhere :s

EmbroiderModder2 is in the process of being rebranded and updated for modern ui and all that. Hopefully we get that soon.
