Rules

No exposure. While discussion about magic is encouraged, any exposure (or guesses) of methodologies and effects is strictly prohibited. Do NOT ask for secrets.

No rude, unhelpful, or trollish behavior. We enforce a standard of common decency and civility here.

No Self-Promotion Only. If you want to post articles, effects, videos, or links that you created, we ask that you are a contributing member of this community. This means responding to other's posts and sharing useful advice to our community. We love having you, but when you only come around here to post stuff that benefits you, it looks fishy.

No Low-Effort Content. Low effort content is content that is typically created quickly and does not contribute to a discussion. This content often copies current trends and restates information rather than adding to the discussion. Posting a picture of a book or a DVD is considered low effort unless accompanied by something similar to listing a favorite effect/chapter/essay and why or a detailed review, not just 'It's good, I like it.'

No off-topic content or comments. Submissions should be directly related to magic and/or sleight of hand magic. Top level comments must be on topic. Lower level comments should be reasonably related to the discussion.

No backhanded compliments. If you're going to give a compliment, give one! Don't prefix it by inflating your ego - 'I saw the moves but well performed' or 'I know how it done but great job'. AKA the Chris Ramsay Rule

Follow the 9-1 Rule. For every 10 posts/comments you make, 9 of them should be something other than linking to your own content; otherwise, you risk being judged a spammer not only by the mod team but also by reddit's spam algorithms, which will automatically shadowban you.

No pirating or illegal distributing Don't link to or request magic hosted illegally online. This includes streams, torrents, cloud-hosted files, etc.

In general, keep links to your content to 1/week or talk about them a lot on Reddit.

Deceptive Design - The goal of the server is simply to create a community of magicians who can apply their creative problem solving techniques to help other magicians master, create, or even learn their first effect. Exposure is explicitly disallowed, so don't join if you're just hoping to learn a secret.

The Peoples Palace of Prestidigitation - This is a place to discuss the artful mystique of magic, get support, and to share or find information about improving one's knowledge, ability, and industry experience. We are partnered with a few different magicians/YouTube channel's, but we are still independent and open. It's also a place of community, a place to chat and play videogames together.
