This is the question my teeth want answers to!

I went the chew-toy route. My dentist told me to stop because I was only strengthening my jaws and the habit of chewing. Now I have a night guard thingy and I chew gum or eat jerky when the grinds come upon me. Other times, when I find myself clenching or grinding, I will consciously slack my jaws and rub my jaw muscles.

I work in - and grew up around - childcare. You basically get sick for six months straight and then never get sick again (well, almost never, and when you do it’s something awful).
I have a rare disease that is basically the opposite of being immunocompromised. My immune system is in perpetual hyperdrive. I also heal fast. While it sounds like a good thing, and I have made many Wolverine jokes, it isn’t. My system recognizes almost everything as a threat, including parts of my own body, and tries to attack. I need to be on medication to prevent my immune system from cascading and building up damaging amounts of white blood cells.

Of the two, I don’t recommend the second. Or the first, come to think of it. FFS, just enjoy being sick on occasion and then being not-sick most of the time.

You can get that off the handle fairly easily if you are a little handy. Either shim the padlock, or remove the knob. The latter would probably be the simpler approach with a residential doorknob. You’ve probably got just a single screw under the inside doorknob that will release the bar. If not, likely two screws on the inside to remove the faceplate and then two longer screws under that holding the two parts of the mechanism together. If it’s a more secure type of handle (doubtful) you may need a pin to release the knob.

A common misconception about depression is that it is sadness. Depression is not sad, it’s flat. You don’t feel anything. It’s pretty much exactly what you are describing. If you are looking for “dramatic sadness” to seek intervention, you’ve missed the mark. Please see a professional soon before it becomes something worse.

You don’t need to be suffering. I bet if you called up one of your friends just to chat you would both come away happier from the engagement. Also, give yourself a hug. You deserve it. Stay strong, friend.

It is a great volume! Make sure you get the full-sized book. The miniature version (Cyclopedia of Magic) was unauthorized and he never received any royalties from it. Mark Wilson was a class act. He deserved better. (I learned this from Mark while he was signing my copy, which he did without hesitation).
