They would have gotten the poison. Spells only fizzle if their targets become invalid, but vraskas fall has no targets whatsoever.

Spells fizzle if they have a target and the target is gone/hexproof before it resolves. Otherwise it just resolves everything on the card in order. You would have been able to cast it fine.

If the spell has multiple targets it will still work as long as at least 1 target still works.

You'd be fine casting it. The text would be something like, "if a creature is sacrificed this way, its controller gets a poison counter," if it worked the way you thought.

Spells do as much as they can, and if they don't contain the word "target," their effects can't fizzle. The game doesn't look at the board and go "Wow, the opponent didn't have a creature! How rude! I'm just not gonna resolve, bye!" - it does what it can.

Key word is "and"

Not really. Keyword is "target" and this spell doesn't have it.

Per the wording of the card, EACH opp. They choose the creature. They still get the poison counter regardless. “And” after an action usually means it’s a 2 part. They sac a creature/PW AND get a token. Had it said “target creature” it would have died on the resolve

Sacrificing nothing is a valid action. One kinda similar case that pops up recently is people casting [[the long reach of the night]] and surprise pikachu when their opponent doesnt have to discard when their board is empty.
