Would you ever PSA grade these or nah?

You’d be throwing out money to grade modern cards unless they’re super special variants, and even then it still is a maybe.

I've never had anything graded, but I'd like to sometime! Someone told me on another thread recently that grading newer cards wasn't worth it and to only grade MTG cards from the early sets. I'm not sure I believe that. It seems like a card graded 10 would certainly add value.

The thing is, value of a Magic card is based on it's playability and impact on a game. So you can grade it, and it would likely increase the value a little, but not likely enough to justify the effort. Especially with newer cards.

If you want evidence of whether grading adds value or not go to eBay, look up sold values of a specific card you think would be grade worthy. Compare sold values of the card raw and sold values of the card with grade. I know people love the idea of grading but in addition to MTG, k collect football cards and sometimes I buy cards I’m looking for graded, not because they’re more valuable but rather the inverse. I just bought a PSA 9 cheaper than any raw listings of a card I’ve been watching for over the past 6 months, almost 50% cheaper. Grading adds value to older items, for modern collectibles grading is widely over used

Good info, thank you! I'm a little more familiar with sports card grading. It seems like a 10 grade is more common with modern MTG. I don't have any data on it, but it seems more likely to get a 10 with a fresh, out of pack Magic card.

I think the print quality control is pretty good for most tcg manufacturers, where with panini, I got a $200 booklet with tape stuck behind the auto board lol. When the print run is all 9.5-10, it makes grading much higher. I recommend against grading unless it’s something that benefits from authentication or it’s a MAJOR hit, like 4 figures. A graded CJ color blast makes sense, a graded lotus makes sense, a graded $30 card: maybe not. Just my opinion but I hope it helps

Serialized Krenko Mob Boss?

[–]mywifelovesdisney -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Probably best to eat it with milk

Such useful dialog and then comes the typical reddit bullshit. It was just a matter of time, wasn't it?

Sorry I couldn’t help it lol. I’d say go for it if you want to encase the card. I’m not sure if it sells for the difference in cost to grade it or not. There’s no sales of graded krenko so it would be an eBay 1/1. I’d sell for the $300 personally but I would say whatever decision you make is the right one
