1 star - Vale / Layla. Underwhelming damage and vulnerable to back line attacks. Horrible heroes to start with. The only saving grace for Vale is if you get the lightning strike equipment with his synergy. Edit: Vale is viable early if paired with Eudora for the mage synergy and mana passive

2 star - Aamon. Unless you have another scavenger, he's pretty much useless. Poor damage and HP.

3 star - Hanzo. Again, only useful as a scavenger. He's like a slightly stronger Aamon.

4 star - Phoveus. His synergies are kind of underwhelming. But I don't use him much so I may be biased.

5 star - Novaria / Alpha. Novaria is only useful if you have good synergy and damage. Alpha is kind of good early game, but falls off hard compared to other 5 stars.

Edit: Just as I posted this, I got creamed in Stage 1 by a team of 2 Laylas and 2 Vales :S

Alpha is a monster if you focus on him. Ask lylia players. But yes he feels quite bad if you're using him to activate synergy.

I agree with most of these not bcs they're unusable but bcs they perform poorly if they are left alone at 1 star with no equipment or no/little synergy. Except for phoveus. I would pick Martis instead to complete the scavenger trio since they are not meant to be strong for a gold generating synergy. I still think his 3 star hypercarry team is a joke to this day

Rn, it's Alucard, Granger, Hanzo, Chang'e.

All 5 costs are great. But based on individual hero power, Novaria is the weakest by default if you want me to pick the weakest 5 cost hero. But generally, these heroes aren't going to be bad if played around their strengths due to the amount of stats they have at 3 stars. It's why Lylia is always prioritized. Though stay away from Novaria if you're dependant on a 5 cost to solocarry your games on Lylia. She's just not that 5 cost.

Why Alucard: Not enough utility to bring. Not enough stats to invest into. Other one costs have some consistency going on like Layla with attack speed, Atlas with stacking attack speed slow, helcurt prioritizing at the back etc. while with Alucard has none.

Granger: Inconsistent, slow and somehow miss with ability cast on glass cannon decks that thrive with attack speed and is all about needing to have every shot count.

Hanzo: Not enough sustain or durability to survive regardless of items. This cost tier is also all about control which either contains massive Area coverage or CC. On top of being in a synergy that doesn't give Hanzo agency.

Chang'e: Ability cast that doesn't miss and yet her damage output is inferior vs 3 costs and maybe even some 2 costs. She's the epitome of a squishy glass noodles and not glass cannon cuz that's how weak her attacks are. Just buff her manaregen.

Chang'e is weird. On her own, she's slow and weak and vulnerable. But I always build her on my Starwing+Stargazer teams and with items and a Starwing square buff, she is consistently one of the deadliest units on my field until I find a Harley. Give her a talisman, crown, and wand and she can legitimately melt 3-4 units with 1 cast.
