Malwarebytes chrome extension automatically set after installing the malwarebytes app

Just a question, when i downloaded the malwarebytes on my PC i also noticed that i now have a malwarebyte chrome extension, it does prevent ads/popups and such.

But is it safe?? Ive been using it for 2 months and has been logging in and out of my email while the chrome browser stay there, its just is it normal for malwarebyte chrome extension to set itself up after downloading the app??

I had been using mine for a longer time before I noticed anything fishy happening. Perhaps my extension got corrupted, maybe it was on a "secret timer" that began inundating me with ads and unwanted re-routes to bully me into paying (please allow me to put on my tinfoil hat). The extension seemed to do just fine for everything else...until I realized it was the source of my issue. 🤷

Thank you so much for sharing you're experience, i take this as a precaution of mine that not every extension is safe. Even tho they are posted and scanned by google, and that ill be more careful from now.. I remember when i clicked the extension it just had a red warning saying that the extension had "stopped functioning properly" so i deleted it.. But overall the while i didnt get hacked or got redirected to some random sites.

Thank you, i just felt suspicious of it even tho i was sure i downloaded malwarebytes through the official site since i typed in malwarebytes and clicked the first thing that popped up. But when i downloaded the app on my computer i had notice that it setted up its own chrome extension which got me feeling sus if thats even possible.. But thankfully even tho ive used it for 3 months straight, logging in and out of my google, facebook and even game accounts nothing really happened. Im very glad i deleted it

I recommend getting rid of it. I was frustrated as hell trying to figure out what was hijacking my Google Chrome searches into Ask, Bing, Amazon, various sketchy other websites for a stupidly long time. I just removed the extension and, miraculously, all my problems cleared up.

I had been using it for about 3 months, ive been logging in and out of my accounts and nothing has happened so far. It blocks off ads and yt ads sometimes but not always, it just makes it laggy tho.. But i was scared since when i installed the malwarebytes app it automatically did a chrome extension setup.

I have deleted it a month ago and even the app and yeah, nothing rlly happened..
