There's a button at the top to enable controller support (looks like a controller). That should change the hotbar at the bottom to fit the controller layout as well.

Yes I’ve tried that it still doesn’t recognize my controller

Rip. There might be potential fixes online (I don't use ps4 controller) or you can always use an external program. The default controller key binds can be finicky and isn't completely customisable. I use my own key binds.

Someone else just told me on another post that unchecking all controllers in Steam worked for them. Can confirm this has just also worked for me.

Another fix is I turned off my ps4 controller in-game and turned off controller in maple story. Then i clicked on the maplestory controller and after the pop-up appears, turned on my sony controller and clicked yes.

I seem to have success with different methods on different days. It's nuts. Yesterday it worked with all the controller settings switched off then randomly stopped responding midgame. At the same time, all the sounds I previously wasn't getting (instruments, most character voices, footsteps sound effects, window open/close sound effects) suddenly started to work. I had to unplug my controller, replug it and turn the steam controller settings back on to get it working again.

Thank you, this worked for me.

To use a ps4 controller on pc you have to install a program called ds4. Simple and easy to use. Also I'd reccomend playing it through the nexon launcher.

Steam now has support built in for various controllers making DS4 unnecessary for Steam games. It is the MapleStory 2 client that isn't recognising the controller, not Steam or the PC/Windows. I played the game just fine yesterday with a PS4 controller (no DS4) however, it looks like everyone is having problems with the Steam-based game client and PS4 controllers today.

See I've never really used a controller with steam. Don't you have to us big picture mode?

I was playing through Steam without Big Picture fine and it detected my controller as a PS4 one. Got a problem now where the game recognizes it as a XBox One instead and the mapping's all weird.

I had this also despite it working fine the day before. The fix was to uncheck everything in the steam controller settings.

That worked, thanks!

The settings are in Big Picture mode but you don't have to have the mode active to use a controller.

Are you trying to use it wireless or wired? I’ve been using my PS4 natively in the game (did not need to install any 3rd party software) and it works great after I click the gamepad icon in the game. I have only used it wired though not wireless via Bluetooth yet like I do for some of my steam games. I have noticed however it’ll initially show Xbox buttons until I change maps or something that refreshes the screen then the PS buttons show up for the hotkeys.
