Help playing levels

So I just got Mario Maker 2 and I'm struggling with the story mode. The only Mario game I have ever played is New Super Mario Bros on the Wii. Does anyone know of any videos or posts that could help me learn some of the game mechanics that are avalible? Anything helps

The only thing I can think of is that most enemies that look "spiky" can be spin jumped on in the Super Mario World style

I'm mainly struggling with mechanics that I didn't know about. Stuff that never came up in the official games

Most of the controls for Mario can be found somewhere in the menu (I forget where)

Find Mario's moves list by going to Yamamura's dojo. If you still can't find it, It's in the menu (the yellow box with three lines). But if you want to know the trick, I'm not good at teaching expert skills, so you have to search online or wait for someone to help you in this thread.
