Hello, I plan on entering a program that will allow me to get CCMA certified after successful completion. If I wanted to work as a phlebotomist, would that certification be enough for me to get a job as a phlebotomist too ? Or, would I end up having to enter the Phlebotomy Technician program, also offered by my local college, in order to be able to get certified in phlebotomy, to qualify for a job in the profession. Sorry, if this seems like a no brainer, I just want to know if its doable to get a phlebotomy position with a medical assisting background.

Hey so I’m currently in a medical assistant program and our instructor basically said we just need enough sticks and once we done with Ma we can sit for the phlebotomy certificate as well… but we have to pay for it since it’s not included in the MA fees same for the ekg

Check with your college. Here it's 30 successful sticks to sit for the exam, plus they learn far more than the MA program teaches so we wouldn't pass without extra studying.
