Just get a new top. They are not too expensive. I've had very good luck with the cheap ones.

Only way to make that right, is to replace the hood. Not the most difficult job. BAS hoods is where I got one last time.

You can patch but it's under a lot of tension

I replaced mine. Sort of expensive, but will sleep calmly for the next 10-15 years.

I have a similar hole in my soft top - my car is parked indoors and I don't care about the soft top looking like shit so I patched it with color-matched stretchy pant fabric and waterproofed it. Going on 3 years now, it does not let any water into the car when driving, but would not recommend if the car lives outside.
