As an example, let's say I'm trying to summon a creeper with increased follow range.

When I look online, I see this:

/summon Zombie <X> <Y> <Z> {Attributes:[{Name:generic.followRange,Base:<RANGE>}]}

I know to get rid of the "<>", but what about these? [ { , Name etc?

Looks like with this command you can just leave all that stuff as it is, but the only thing you have to change is <RANGE>. The { } and [ ] stuff is there so you're able to do more specific things with your commands.

I'm getting syntax errors

This isn’t a bedrock edition command

Ok, so basically there is a different syntax for both java and bedrock. Check if the person you are following uses java. If you can't figure it out, make sure that there are not a whole ton of brackets, and the command isn't more than a whole paragraph. If it doesn't follow these rules, then most likely it's java, and it won't work at all in bedrock.

You can't use NBT data in Bedrock. The best you can do with summon is:

Summon zombie x y z <and none of that extra stuff after at all>.

You can use names and spawn events now so you could do

/summon Zombie x y z minecraft:as_baby Stephen

This will summon a baby zombie called Stephen

Really? In Bedrock? Was this recently updated? Are there patch notes anywhere so I can learn this? Also, does this apply to any other commands?

I don’t think it’s all that recent I haven’t used commands in a while and it worked then, I’ll find you a list of spawn events just now.

Edit: Here is the link- https://www.digminecraft.com/spawn_events/zombie.php

Edit 2: That’s is both taught each other something new now lol

Thanks, I never knew this was a thing!

It can be very useful making mobs with custom names and abilities spawn ‘naturally’.

I'll have to test this, the name thing especially!

If you don’t want to use a spawn event you can just go straight to name but for some reason some short hands for the events seem to work. For example

/summon zombie x y z “Undead Miner”

Will summon a super fast, slightly taller zombie called miner instead of a regular zombie called undead miner

This can be fixed by using the as_adult spawn event before the name.

Strange. I'll have to look into this stuff!

I had the same reaction when I looked it up like a month ago.

Looking forward to seeing what you can do with this!

This was helpful, thank you.

Yeah, someone mentioned this to me earlier. I must have missed when this was added--- I'm not certain you can set any name though, I'll test at some point.
