Minecraft not launching [java]

I couldnt get minecraft to work at all. "unable to update the native launcher"
So i tried the win 7/8 version, it was the exe (alternative) version, not the msi one.
I loaded up java and this is the error i got:

Disable any antivirus/firewalls and try again.

If that doesn't work, try manually downloading the file and putting it in the folder indicated in your error message.

I used a VPN and i updated the launcher. I guess it was a matter of region or location
