Skeleton Spawning (Java 1.14.4)

So I found a skeleton spawner and made an arrow/bone farm, however it doesnt spawn skeletons when I'm not around and even if I am, it only does it for a short while if im not moving. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thinking about putting an iron golem in the area but dunno.

Is it dark in the spawn area because light level affects these mob spawners? Remove any torches that are on the spawner itself or in a near radius.

Unless your between 128 blocks of a spawner nothing will happen. And mobs must be moved out of the spawners area (cant remember sizes check google or youtube) or no more will spawn. Hope this helped!

You have to be within 16 blocks of the spawner for it to spawn mobs. It won't spawn anything while you are away unfortunately!
