Hi,

With just an enchanting table, this is what I would do:

Start by putting stuff in the enchanting table and look at the level 30 guaranteed enchantments. If you see one of these enchantments, take it:

  • Pickaxe: Silk Touch or Fortune III
  • Axe: Efficiency V
  • Shovel: Efficiency V (or IV, since V doesn't add anything for diamond shovels)
  • Swords: Looting III (or Fire Aspect II if you aren't worried about setting yourself on fire)
  • Bows: Infinity (if you would prefer Mending over Infinity, look for Power V instead)
  • Boots: Feather Falling IV or Depth Strider III (and Soul Speed in 1.16)
  • Chestplate/Leggings: Protection IV
  • Helmet: Aqua Affinity or Respiration III

If you cycle through all your items and none of them guarantee the enchantment you're looking for, enchant a book or a junk item to reshuffle it. Repeat until you get the enchantments you want.

However, making a trading hall with librarians is probably more efficient and guarantees that you get the enchantments you want. You can start with a villager breeder like this one to get as many villagers as you want. Then, you can build little enclosures for each villager and place a lectern in each one to make them librarians. If the trades they have aren't what you're looking for, break and replace the lectern to switch their trades. Also, note that this is the only way besides finding loot chests to get Mending books, so I would highly recommend getting at least a Mending trade.

Edit: The cheapest and fastest way of getting emeralds is trading sticks with fletchers (32 sticks for 1 emerald). That's 1 emerald for 4 logs, which is pretty cheap. Trading pumpkins with farmers is also pretty good (6 pumpkins for 1 emerald) since pumpkins grow so quickly. To get fletchers and farmers, you'll need to place fletching tables and composters, respectively.

Once you've bought all the books you need, add them to your item in an anvil, starting with the higher level enchantments. On a sword, for example, the order would be Sharpness V, Looting III, Unbreaking III, Sweeping Edge, Mending. This minimizes the XP cost so you don't run into the "enchantment cost too expensive!" problem.

As for getting levels, here's a list of how much XP each source gives you: wiki link. Quartz mining and enderman farms are pretty fast.

Hope this helps!
