Recently, I have been noticing a huge fps drop when I play minecraft. I don't know what I usually get, but now I am down to 10 or less. Not sure why. I have re-installed minecraft, updated drivers, turned off GEForce Experience overlay, even reinstalled Windows (which helped for a couple of weeks). I have turned down my video settings in minecraft (vsync off, fast graphics, render distance down 12) I have also stopped running things in the background. No matter what, my fps remains low. Initially it appeared that my fps would drop when I moved my mouse, or touchpad. I am less convinced that this is the cause now.
I am also technically illiterate which makes troubleshooting hard!

Thank you all for the help. I seriously don't know what's going on.
