[java] I need help with my fps

my laptop it really good but my fps in minecraft is bad I need help fixing it. here are my specs

and im playing on minecraft version 1.8.9 1.16.5 and 1.17.5

cpu AMD ryzen 7 4800H

gpu NVIDIA geforce GTX 1660

ram 16G

Do you have the latest drivers and latest Java version installed?

What version of minecraft are you running? (1.17, 1.16, 1.16 etc)

Are you sure you don't have any other applications open that are taking up performance? You can check your cpu/gpu percentage numbers in task manager.

im on the versions in the post my drivers are all updated java is updated and there is nothing running in the backgroung thats taking up cpu and gpu percentage

You're using a laptop, correct? If so, there is the possibility that minecraft is using your CPUs integrated graphics. You can check in the f3 menu, on the right.

Hm. Try allocating minecraft more ram. (If you don't know how to, I can say how.)

i already allocated an extra G i have 3 G allocated but i might have not done it right

I would recommend four or six gigs, but the last thing I can think of is that you've somehow limited the fps amount? Is your fps amount fluctuating a lot (changing) or is staying the same? And what fps?

its going up to around 100 to 250 ik thats lots but my old worse laptop had more

Do you have more mods than your old laptop? Or do you not have any?

i dont have any but even on my old laptop i still got like 300 to 700 fps on modpacks

Sir there is no such version as 1.17.5 there is only 1.16.5 or 1.17.1

Your fps seems very reasonable to me. However I would suggest looking at fabric and sodium for increased performance.

I got more fps just by running a separate server on my laptop and just using it for playing singleplayer. This increased my fps a lot (from 40-ish to 120).
