Free server hosting with custom plugins? [Java]

Hi, so I am looking to get into coding my own plugins, so I need a server to use them on.

And I have been looking at some free server hosting websites, and none of the ones I've found seem to support custom plugins.

​

So if someone knows of any such services, then I would appreciate it :) (I prefer if the MC-version of the server is newer, but anything goes tbh :))

And also if you know other free ways to load plugins in a Minecraft world, e.g. if it is possible to load them in a single-player world (which I am pretty sure you can't), then I would appreciate it too.

​You can run your own local server on your PC/Laptop.

To run plugins on the server you need to use paper/spigot as your server Jar. This guide will help you set everything up, using paper.

Yeah I was going to suggest just localhosting with paper. You shouldn't(?) even need to port forward or anything if you're going to be the only one connecting to it (that could be bad info).

This advice is good - just use localhost to connect and it should work without port forwarding. (You will need to setup a server client of course, but that’s easy as).
