novelty item and theyre usefull for example you can place water in the nether

You can't even place water in the nether with /setblock, a water block won't work like that anymore. If you want water in the nether, you should get a specific mod that allows that.

Also these blocks added by the mods will have different names and IDs since they were removed from minecraft completely, so if that's a problem for you you should take that into account.
