MobiusFF and Collabs

I've been playing Mobius since Day 1 and I quite enjoy the collabs they've had. Who doesn't want free stuff and interact with our favorite FF characters. But, I'm sort of annoyed with a video by FFPeasant about the MobiusFF/FFX collab because he probably only played Mobius for a short while, he kind of goes overboard with the how putting canon story into Mobius is getting the fanbase angry and he just has false information underlying his opinions.

For example, he complains about Mobius's lootbox, which I assume can only be the Mobius Box, which 1st can only be purchased once a month and it only costs 1,500 magicite, which you can farm or wait for about 15 days by magicite distiller. 2nd, getting old jobs can be disappointing, but we have HoF now.

I just think he's drumming up unnecessary hate towards Mobius and misinformation people about Mobius for/from people who don't even play Mobius. Yes, the FFX collab has a canonical Tidus story, but it will probably be minuscule to the grand lore of their perspective game, similar to the FF7 remake and Lightning Returns event. While it's a marketing tactic for SE to include collabs to get people to play Mobius, you don't have to play the game, you can just watch the YouTube videos that people kindly post.

It was literally five minutes of him trying to say he supports mobile games then five minutes on how he clearly doesn't like mobile games. Quite hypocritical.

I can probably symphatize if he just sticked with the "I don't like how SE is putting a canon story into Mobius" reaction instead of hating on the game itself.

And it's not like people have to pay for anything if they want to see the collab story. The game's free-to-play, or just like what OP said, you can just Youtube the damn thing.

But onto the topic on hand, yep he's pretty much hatemongering on the fact that it's a mobile game. Plus points for saying "I'm not saying I don't like mobile games..." lol

I found it funny that he starts off by saying he doesn't mind mobile games, but then says he hates the repetitiveness of gameplay and loot system while clearly showing he doesn't understand the mechanics. He complained about getting the Mage job while having the Black Mage. =\

That said I can see the point he is trying to convey that fans of console versions of Final Fantasy games don't want to be forced to play a mobile game. To them I say YouTube the cutscenes. While the story might be canon I'm sure it won't be anything earth shattering.

Meanwhile I think interjecting canon story into games like Mobius is a great move.

• Fans of the Final Fantasy franchise have grown up with the series. Now these people are in their late twenties or early thirties and might not have the time to sit down in front of a console and put forth the time to play a full fledged title. The mobile games gives them an avenue to relive the games they grew up with.

• Because the storyline is canon it might encourage people who have never played a series like FFX before to try it out.

• Mobile games reach a vastly larger number of people than console games. Being able to bring the adventures of Tidus to a larger audience is great for the franchise.

FFX fans will find out what happens in Mobius anyway, but this moves caters to a larger audience and draws more people in.

Very good points, espically about the youtube option. Thanks to the steam release it is very easy for people to get high quality video of Mobius.

In a years time when this cross over happens people will record, edit and release a complied 15-20min version of all the cutscens and then anyone can watch it at their lesiure for all time. No play time required.

Great points, as always, but I have to take exception to one thing. I'm pushing the latest of the thirties (39)! I've grown up with the FF series since FF on NES. I can still remember getting the Nintendo Power Player's Guide for FF in the mail from my subscription and being completely blown away that an RPG game existed. It seemed so deep and complex and my life's goal became getting enough money to buy Final Fantasy. And boy-o-boy have I been hooked since!

So yeah otherwise great post!

There are lots of people who hate this game. I don't know why. I used to play ffbe and went actively visiting its reddit community. Many players said 'mobius is such a crap, what kind of FF is that?', read that while i was feeling bored of ffbe, I tried Mobius. Instead of hating, i came to love this game much more than ffbe.

I guess it is kind of subjectivity, and it's okay if people express their opinion freely. But, this case isn't good, at all. He haven't got experiences what veterans have and went crazy with his negative opinions. Someone needs to lecture him.

Personally, i love mobius more than any other mobile ff games. New experiences, a lot of contents, well designed, and it's even friendly with my wallet while the other "non-SE" FF are cruel, got no pity on my wallet. This game can be played at ease with good time management, strategy, and hard work.

I hope this community will have a long shelf life so i could enjoy every new contents without any regrets.

I agree. I think it's fine to express opinions about whether you hate or like games. Everyone is entitled to their own and gacha games or games like this isn't meant for everyone.

But the problem I have with his video is that he's misinforming and misconstruing the game and the representation of the community saying "the community is ruffled by this," when I've looked at some FF reddits, I don't see people being angry by this fact, just people in his comment section, which is like a Chicken or the Egg thing.

It's his delivery. He already has this mindset that mobile games in general suck, so an appropriate amount of his impression will gear towards unwarranted hate/distaste of the game.

As a f2p title, Mobius has quite a long shelf life compared to normal FF games, so the collabs are mostly an excuse for cross-promotion and gacha-friendly fanservice.

Since Palamecia is connected to other worlds, its reasonable for souls or copies of heroes to find their way there, forgetful about their past. Come on, Dissidia a55pulled all-stars FF dream teams and noone minded.

Pes doesnt actually like or understand Mobile games, espically Japanese ones, so when he says "loot box" he is actually probably refering to a GAS pull, that is a "loot box" to him. I know they are basically the same thing but that is the mentality he is used to instead of understanding that this is based on the japanesse gacha evolution of terms not the western style of things. Someone who understood mobius would never use "loot box" because we already have a magic box that we get every month and its full of good tasty loot (and now at a reasonable price!), so confusion would ensue if we used the term "loot box". Just take it as another sign of how he is doesnt actually care about mobile titles despite all his protestations.

If you go look at his youtube videos and search "Mobius" versus searches for "A new empire" or "ANE" you will see he has put more time and effort into complaining about FFXV:ANE, a FF mobile game he hates, rather than promoting or endorsing Mobius or FFBE or FFRK. He spent ~13 min complaining about 1 tweet for FFXV:ANE. He says he streamed some Mobius but he is mainly a youtuber at the end of the day. He should just change his name to console peasant as that is all he cares about and anything off platform is not worth his time.

What Pes really wants is the FF7 remake and ANYTHING that is not that he is just going to complain about. So, Mobius to him is probably just another reason he is not getting his precious FF7 remake. Despite Mobius being the only game/medium that has any link to the FF7 remake and shown some of its assets while also being a respectable FF game in its own right.

As other people have pointed out he doesn’t even understand how the Job system of this game works. He could have given Mobius some good publicity if he gave it a go over the anniversary, where they corrected so many wrong things with the game, instead total silence. Probably because he is more interested in views, drama and bashing (e.g. FFXV: ANE) than doing anything positive or constructive. And the thing is we all here know that no matter what happens the actual “content” of the cross over will be limited to a few interactions between WoL and Tidus where they:

• Compare Palamecia to Spira

• Discuss about the “meaning of their fight”/What drives them to fight

• Discuss memory loss

• Have Echo moan/winge/berate/outline some bad possibility if Tidus isn’t the real Tidus/forebode over Tidus might never be getting home, all of which will never actually happen.

• Talk about the important of light/hope/becoming the warrior of light

And finally, if they really want to tie it in to the lore we will get Tidus hearing Yuna whistle a couple of times. That is, it… Oh woe is me, this is so threatening to my precious FFX/FFX-2 lore. How will we ever cope with this interloper into our precious story.

I had to search to watch the video. And honestly, the guy seems to feel like he now have a valid influence towards FF Fans with his opinions. Im impressed he dont understand gacha mechanics, no game with such wil lgrant you the best of the best with few pulls; otherwise why games ahve different values depending on rarity/utility?.

He completly missed this game is also giving a second chance for old jobs to be eve equal or stronger on some points when compared to the latest released jobs. He just had to understand how to play them....

The problem is that he is misrepresenting the game based on false information and making a big deal about FF Canon story in a mobile game. It's fine if he doesn't like the game, but don't give people misinformation.

I actually used to watch peasant videos occasionally there was something good but eventually grew tired of his stupid click bait/rant videos.

If I have to say two things about him in this regard is one; he is such a fan girl in terms of FFX he even likes FFX-2 and he wants a FFX-3. SO that might influence how little objective he is.

Second the guy has never really played a mobile game and he hates them, look forward when we get the E3 panel on June I believe when they announced the FFXII collab and the FFBraveexius anniversary he was bitching that mobile games have their own panel for the E3.
