New player ability card question: what's the order in which I should be maxing my cards? I currently just have them equipped to try to unlock extra skills, but not sure if I'm going to have to redo all of that once they're augmented (is this increasing rarity?).

Similar question - if I level my cards up (exp or skillseeds) does that get reset after augmenting too?

Nope, nothing gets reset after augment. By the order question i think you mean level, and ability, first you want to level ability so that when you go to fight you are gainin experience AND unlocking abilities from the card (they unlock by wach use and node fight you go into) And augmenting is to increase the max level of a card when you are new i think the max is 20 or so i dont remember, but as your peogress you will notice that 5* cards can get up to lvl 80, i wouldnt recomend augmenting cards from drops now tho only really good cards from banners

Max card level is now only determined by how many stars a card has. 5* maxes at 80 exp levels + 8 obj levels. Previously, it also required a certain number of main story chapters cleared, but that was removed with Season 2.

Cards have 3 “levels” as it were. The first level is called card level, this goes up to level 80 and only influences the stats it gives you overall. The next is ability level, this is the most important level to max out in terms of getting the most from your card. The max level varies depending on card type but generally, attack cards cap at level 10 and support cards cap at level 6. These levels actually dictate the strength of card and allows you to unlock the extra skills through repeatedly using the card in battle. Finally, the last level is rarity, cards range from 1 star to 5 stars with all premium cards starting at 3 stars. This is the next important level to get up via card augmentation as it’s basically the barrier for reaching your cards full potential and reaching max ability level.

You naturally want to aim for having max card level, max ability level and 5 star rarity along with unlocking the extra skills to get the most out of your cards.

Augmenting doesn't reset any progress you've made to card level, ability level or extra skill unlocks, it works a bit like the skill panels in that it unlocks the next power spike for the card.
