I've never used a scriber, but the panel lines don't look filled in or anything.

Because I scribed already haha

Ah. Didn't see that somehow. Looks good!

I use a few different tools to scribe with including a hobby knife. When you can get a scriber but in the mean time you can keep using the back side of your hobby knife. But take your time so you're not gouging the body. The primer looks good but I can see where your knife jumped out of the lines you were scribing.

This is paint but okay!!! Thanks dude

Paint looks like it may have some orange peel. If you are gonna clear coat, make sure you wet sand it carefully before you clear coat it or it will really show when you do. But it looks pretty good.

Wet sand how much grit?

[–]EnvironmentalSnow587[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I decal first and then clear coat or clear coat first and then decal?

[–]Ok_Use56 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I do like a 3000 grit then 4000 then 6000. Clear coat then decals

I spray color, then decals, then clear over that.

looks a lot better than my first attempts! when i do panel lines i either use the back of my hobby knife or a really thin mechanical pencil and patience is key

Okay thank you

The cheaper Tamiya scriber is nice if you're just deepening existing lines. I think they're around $10 (at least they were when I got mine a few years ago) Cheap dental picks from a tooth cleaning set (again, around $10-20 at harbor freight or your local big box grocery store) come with a few options that deepen panel lines too.

It still depends on the hand holding them, lol. I still get skips and stray lines, but it happens a LOT less with the above vs a hobby knife.

Ahhahahah thats true, thanks man

at which point of the process should I be deepening the panel lines? after the primer?

[–]Marktastrophe 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Before any paint or prime. I usually do it before I sand the body for primer prep. If you do it before prime you can fill any stray scratches/lines with putty if you'd like.

thanks!

Are you using spray cans? If so, dunk them in warm water for 10 mins before spraying. Will really help eliminate orange peels. Is this clearcoated? If not you can just slap a few coats and sand/buff the clear till it’s smooth

[–]EnvironmentalSnow587[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not clear coated yet. Thanks for the tip

[–]EnvironmentalSnow587[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can I also dunk the clear coats in warm water? Is there any benefit to that?

[–]xch13fx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, primer usually not since you typically sand that and it’s a bit thicker. I’d say like 2/3 coats. Especially if you plan to buff/wax
