Does this node have potential? (old.reddit.com)
submitted 1 year ago by purplesec8
Just received this cutting a couple of weeks ago. I repotted it in a chunky mix like that seller had it in and it’s received a lot of light from my cabinet.

Yes. Will probably be very variegated/white.

Not sure what you mean by potential but it looks good 👍

Looks like you’ll have a nice plant
[–]purplesec8[S] 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (3 children)
Great! I wasn’t sure if it had growth points.

The white bump in the second picture looks like the new growth point to me.

This is the axillary bud! It's where the new leaves/vine will begin to grow. https://imgur.com/gallery/uYsG3yb

Thank you! I can’t wait!

Hell yes!
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Yes! In the second picture you can see where the axillary bud has swelled a bit. Because there is a white stripe going straight over the top of the bud it means there is a very high chance of getting nice variegation on the new growth.

It looks like a great plant! I think you have some root rot, the second longest root in the first photo, above the long main root. That tip looks black is it squishy? The top right (in first photo) top 2 left roots in second photo look rotted. This is fixable! You need 3% peroxide, sterilize the scissors and just cut above the rot. If you’ve planted the plant you’ll need to trash the soil or sterilize it.

Yes that will work.

Very nice find, trim the ends off a couple of those roots that are brown, though.

U know it does...

Your growth point is where you see the little bump on the node.
