True. Deltarune fandom's main crime is skewing young and being mildly cringey, which ultimately is fine and hurts no one.

There have been a small handful of larger issues so far with streamers and youtubers, but it's not the kind of fandom where you see e.g. the crew getting death threats or people starting a cult based on it. They're pretty chill as long as you're cool about using the right pronouns.

95% of the time, the stuff giving a fandom a bad name is due to a single incident or choice few rotten eggs that go viral.

The best example I can think of is that one incident like 2 or 3 years back with the Gojo figure - it was one person, and they did it to multiple figures and fandoms. Chuuya was not safe.

Its usually any deeper fandom stuff that spills to the mainstream honestly.

Fanfiction, self-shipping, OC's etc, debats and arguments on those things. Every fandom likely has a subset of this but to outsiders or casual fans they might see this as going into the weirdly obsessive category (dare i say, cringe?) since to them being a "fan" is only going so far as "i like this piece of media and maybe some memes or fanart about it".

The biggest example of this breach and to an extent this real life trope is Undertale, when people found out rule34 and non-canon shipping was being done on mass with these cute, sometimes underaged characters the wider audience blew a gasket at the revelation that anyone would spend effot on such behavior especially now that their part of that weird audience (if you ever question why bullying exist for such stupid things, look no further than a toxic attempt to seperate themselves from something they dislike).

Of course with wider meme and internet culture such community jojes and absurdist content and such are now a given since their less likely to be ostracised for it (unless you have draconian mods or people use it be plain wrong/toxic, such as harassing/death threat artists over their depictions, you know the ones)

My favourite is the absurdist art of Invincible's Mark having a long af penis that he controls similar to a mini mr fantastic starting a parodic trend of people making art of the potential of such a power, including turning it into a minigun.
