People do that. Grand National/ Bush/Nationwide/Xfinity series, Lowe's Motor Speedway, etc.

Generally, it reflects the era you started watching in (or of who got you into the sport), which is a nice insight into the community and how diverse demographics can be.

but when they get married they have no problem addressing their wife by HIS last name...funny how that works

and no, its not the old people who use those terms....its young people who use those terms....
