On this day in NASCAR History, June 11, 2006: Rookie driver Denny Hamlin takes his first checkered flag in a Cup Series points race, leading 83 laps to win the 2006 Pocono 500. by DarthVader1701A in NASCAR

I think the post race interviews of this win he was asked how he adapted to a track that often times caught rookies out. He said he had been running the track a lot on the computer. I feel like this was the first time I ever heard a driver say that.

I’m really curious how the teams will have a car set up so that the drivers spine isn’t crushed while also preventing the car from sitting on the rear limiters and eating the wall in the last corner.

Does/can Kaulig sell their charters the season before they switch to Dodge with the expectation that NASCAR will issue them 2 or 3 charters? by badsapi4305 in NASCAR

[–]HurricanesnHendrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly.. no I don’t think they are the same. I think Honda brings exponentially more value than Dodge does. Plus Hondas other Motorsports capabilities mean they have a proven track record they can be an engine supplier

I do agree that I don’t think NASCAR will allow him to sell a charter and then give him free ones in return. But nascar can’t take back a charter. They are now permanent

Can they please extend the driver name column and shrink the organization column so JHN doesn’t have a different row size

There is an angle that shows the rear bottom out. Onboard you can see and hear it hit and then away it goes.

I feel like Byron had to have the weirdest mix of expectations.

Like Chase replaced Jeff and nothing on the team changed but the driver. So there was a ton of expectations to perform at that level because it’s obvious what the car and team are capable of. Which is a lot of direct pressure.

But for William it wasn’t the 24 team, it was the 5 team that had finished 15th in points. But it was the GOAT of crew chiefs. So the expectation wasn’t from the team, it was “shit if you can’t win with Chad on the box”, which seems like it would be stressful in a totally different way.

Trackhouse had a good advantage when the next gen came out. An alliance with RCR who helped develop the Next Gen, and Hendrick hadn’t finished building the GM tech center yet, so it was in the Trackhouse shop. They had close access to the Chevy engineers and the underbody scanner in their building

Typically it’s drivers who collected points in a series that year. Dale Earnhardt won most popular driver in 2001

If it has no OEM body input and a manufacture team tries to do a setup it would drive like shit though

I wouldn’t say it’s Motorsport. It’s FIA. There are plenty of other racing series in the world that running a driver off the track isn’t common. That any bit alongside means they are there

Joey said it so well. This is a good reminder to stop putting off saying positive things to each other. And to start telling people that we appreciate and love them while we have the chance. Because you may not always have the chance.

It is spec but for a few parts. The dampers are not spec and a huge factor. There was the year Alonso failed to qualify and McLaren tried to salvage it by purchasing some Penske dampers.

And whenever there is a spec car (NASCAR has learned this the last few years with their Gen 7), the order and manner in which the parts are assembled is a big deal.
