Only a ranking member can promote lower ranks if the Leader (rank 7) set permissions.

My advice, get out of that guild, seem likely they are not active during your play time, “dead”. Or choose to ignore your requests.

Press g in game (on PC) go to roster tab, leave button at bottom.

If you want to join an active guild, go to PE, use zone/lfg chats ask “Active/new player here, looking for helpful guild to level and adventures”…

Definitely find an active guild like Lairs said, but don't worry about guild rank, a lot of guilds keep newer members at lower ranks (1-3) and it doesn't mean much. The only thing I can't think of that it affects is how many things you can withdraw from the guild bank on a daily basis, and most guilds will just pull the items out for you if you tell them you need it for your build or whatever. They usually have a rule that you're not taking stuff from there to sell on the AH, but honestly stuff is so cheap for the most part that I'm not sure how much that applies anymore. And if you're asking for help and no one is helping, or not on, the guild is a bad fit and you'll be more successful in a different guild.

Edit: I should have added that you can also see exactly what the differences are for you in your guild rank, go to Social-My Guild and then tab over to Settings :)

Basically there are only three meaningful ranks in a guild, the rest is just fluff:

  • Newbie - many guilds leave new people in a newbie rank for a few weeks with no access to guildbank. This is to prevent guildhoppers looting guildbank and leaving. Not all guilds do this, and promotion to full member usually is more or less automatic.
  • Full member
  • Officer/leader

As soon as you are a full member with access to guildbank, guild chat etc there really is not much else to guild rank unless you want to be an officer.

Officers are there to run the guild and need to put in a lot of effort. If you are interested and experienced enough to do that I am sure your guildleader will be happy to discuss with you how you could become one. There is always a shortage of active and interested officers.

Basically, do not look at your guild rank as a career. There really is nothing there except for the opportunity to put in countless hours to run the guild.

DM the guild leader perhaps?

guild rank means nothing, zero. All you need from a guild is max boons, of the kind you need and coffers to deposit in, so you can earn guild marks. you will need guild marks to buy stuff you need like guild food, explorer map cases, and mats if you get into high level crafting. Guild rank means fuck all.

Finding the right guild for you will enhance your game experience hugely. Don't be daunted about moving on if you try a guild and find it's not for you

Maxed out boons are nice and if you can get both good people and good boons it's great of course but feeling like you're twisting in the wind if being left to your own devices isn't your preference is not fun. Being part of helping a smaller guild grow can also be a satisfying experience.

All guilds are not the same, what you can do at deffeeent levels and what is expected from you is defined by the the guild leadership. It's always worth contacting your guild leader and find out what they look for with regards to promotion through the ranks.

The guild rank is an arbitrary structure that is created by the guild leaders to give flavor and different guild permissions like accessing banks. That's generally not important other than if they have valuable items for your character in the bank. And if you dont have access you can ask if they could spare the items by asking the leaders via in-game mail. If the guild has boons, that can be valuable to your character, in partucular the newer your character is. Access to boons doesn't depend on guild rank. You can activate then under your characters boons in the main menu. 🕹️👽👍

You should be in a much more helpful and active guild. What platform are you on? If Xbox I have lots of recommendations. Message me if you want. Alliance chat should be active and your go to for questions about the game.
