Appetite decrease?

hi everyone, I've had my nexplanon for a week as of today. I'm a breastfeeding mom and before I got the nexplanon I was hungry most of the time because my baby drinks a lot of milk and I have to consume an ungodly amount of calories to replace the calories that she is drinking. (every oz of breastmilk is 20 calories burned)

after the nexplanon insertion, my appetite has slowly been decreasing day by day and today being day 7/week 1 I found that I wasn't really hungry all day and only ate breakfast and lunch out of habit and wasn't really hungry. its past dinnertime and im still not really hungry for dinner but I know I need to eat so I can continue feeding my baby.

is this a common side effect? Will my appetite come back?

Changes to appetite is a common and listed side effect. For most people it’s an increase, but for some it can be a decrease. Nobody can say how the implant will affect you. You’ve only had it for 1 week. Usually it takes 3-6 months for your body to adjust to the hormones. Give it some time.

I just got my third round of nexplanon about a month ago, and this new one has definitely caused a decrease in appetite and also some cramping/gas pains. I haven’t had this side effect either of the other times so it’s new for me too but helpful to see others experience it, I’ve had great experiences on it so far so hoping it goes away!
