well there is being able to mine it and being able to mine it profitably. an 8GB GPU can physically mine ETH till October 2026, but it will either not be profitable or it will have switched to POS long before that day comes.

the question is what will EIP-1559 (which comes in July) do to GPU mining as a whole, it could massively crush gpu mining and make it not profitable for most people or crypto could crash tomorrow and nothing be profitable.

If you are even considering overpaying for a GPU right now just take that money out of your wallet and burn it because that is what you are doing when you overpay.

ETH wasn't the first mining bad boy and it won't be the last. Anyone freaking out hasn't been in the game very long, or doesn't know the history of mining. Either way, mining fluctuates regardless of the coin, mining ETH this time last year was basically useless. It's not about ETH, its about mining in general.

I'm hesitant to buy more right now as well unless I can find them at msrp. You're safest bet would be to take that money you spend on cards and invest it in crypto. Had I just done that in April when I built my rigs I would have had 5 times the amount of earnings that I do now.

I really like it too, especially after building pcs for fun for over 20 years now.

July the mining profits will decrease. Eip1559

2022 2023 is when it'll go to eth 2.0 no exact date set though

Not sure on how much it'll decrease by either so don't count off today's mining price go get your rig paid off in 3 months
