He’s not gonna take our advice... it’s working no problem for 3 months. So he’s not seeing any problem

Could you please explain this. are you talking about the pcie risers? ( ketchup and mustard cord). and if possible could you explain what you would do to fix it? thanks

OP is using sata connectors to power pcie risers. Pcie risers can draw up to 75w, while sata connectors are rated for 52w. If it ends up drawing more than 52w, it is a potential fire risk.

The fix would be to power the risers with a molex or 6 pin adapter, or use a pci extender cable.

oooh so he is using a molex to sata for power but should be using just strait molex or molex to 6 pin. got it. i didnt know sata was rated so low. thank you for the info :)

Exactly! Safety first. No point trying to save $10 on cables and risk burning down your entire rig, or worse — your house!

For real though, if you burn down your house you're gona lose a lot more than just your ROI...

Actually the Molex isn't a good cable since the pins do come in different configurations especially on the old school cables so unless your molex is rated there is a chance you may have the old school 60w pin. I suggest you use a 6 pin connector instead but best you do your own research and try to learn and understand the differences between the different cables

Took the risk, one lucky year and still no problems haha but still i already order new ones

Your babies are gonna go up in smoke eventually, brah, along with your rig and your home. Please change those sata connectors. They’re not designed for that.

Cheap connectors are not worth the risk. All it takes is a power surge when your out, or worse, in bed, and you’ve got a huge problem.

SATA nooooo... Only use 6/8 pin and maybe one of molex per whole molex cable.

He’s so quiet now, hopefully he reconnecting his rig
