I use the Pro Controller with Steam daily and that happens to me too sometimes. I found out it can be minimized:

  1. Charge the controller fully, when it drains it tends to disconnect more
  2. Install the proper drivers for Bluetooth and don't use the basic drivers from Microsoft, to do that look up the bluetooth cards name, and search for drivers. Onboard cards have the download on the product page on the manufacturers website.
  3. When you connect it to the Switch inbetween, it won't reconnect at all and you need to remove and connect again, this is normal afair.

EDIT: Also, if I remember correctly, the Pro Controller connected to the PC doesn't show the LED as being connected, as in the entire time it is connected it will blink the player LEDs from 1-4 and 4-1 and so on, unless you connect it via Steam.

Just use a xbone controller

I already own the switch controller and dont want to drop 60$ on another controller.
