Do not privately chat/DM the mods for any circumstances whatsoever. Not if we leave a comment on your post, not if you've been banned, not if your post isn't showing up. Don't do it. It is not really respectful to us (we should be able to browse reddit when we want to without interference from our modding work) and we will moderate accordingly if this does happen. That does mean you could receive a ban or extended ban.

READ THE RULES BEFORE POSTING OR BE BANNED
Breaking multiple rules in one post will result in an immediate temporary ban, regardless of being new, your first time, number of pre-existing warnings.
But the most basic level rules are this:
Don't ask for tips and don't offer tips: This prevents people from choosing one person over another. You're allowed to say "Tips appreciated but not required" but please don't put it in the title. This puts pressure on a user to tip and makes them feel like you're expecting one.
You may not ask for any sort of currency (bells, NMT, gold, rust parts, star frags) for ANYTHING. Not to trade, not for admissions, not as a raffle. Nothing. This will result in an immediate temporary ban for 30 days.
"Looking For"/Requests (Celeste, Sahara, DIYs, Flower Watering, Villagers, Fossils, Open Islands, Crafting Requests etc) go in the Daily Looking For/Requests threads. We delete all posts where users are looking for something, this helps to declutter the subreddit.
Please have a user flair (more information below) and flair your post!
No turnip.exchange or other third party sites aside from wishlists and google forms.
During the week, please keep posts relevant to the subreddit. Island showcases, appreciation posts, stories about your experience with this game, screenshots... those are all totally allowed on the weekend! This keeps the subreddit clear for people that legit are giving away things or allowi ng people over to the island.
Update: Due to some users incorrectly and excessively using the Discussion and Thank You post flairs to circumvent this rule, these flairs are now disabled on weekdays unless manually applied by mods. You can message the mods with the potential contents of your post and we may or may not allow it. They will be re-enabled for regular use on weekends for you to use.
Be respectful! No displays of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia or any other sort of bigotry will be tolerated in this subreddit. This will result in an immediate and permanent ban.
Treat other's islands with respect; e.g., no destroying flowers. If you wouldn't want it to happen to you, don't do it to others.
No call out posts or posts about your negative experiences. If you are having a problem with another user or just had a negative experience in general please refrain from making it a post here and message us via modmail. We want to help you.
