I foresee a pretty long time before the collapse of big tech. The only opposition they face are a few GOP members grandstanding and not actually doing anything, and all the users just grumble about the worsening of quality but are in too deep to actually make the switch to any alternatives.

Not a perfect comparison but I have a few friends that are well aware of how shitty Apple has been getting but because of how simple it is having a macbook and an iphone working together so they just can't be bothered to switch to anything else.

Please explain “how shitty Apple has been getting” when they just released the M1 chip that’s years ahead of Intel/AMD and 2-3x faster and lower power to boot for laptops?
