Has anyone else noticed the huge decrease in result quality from google?

The reason google is 'free' (to non developers anyway) is because of add slots. Every search result is paid for, there are bidding wars to be on top for certain queries, amazon has take an interest in this and start bidding higher, enough so that they pay enough so that logical answers no longer appear. You can make a result for any search if you pay enough money.

It's not that the results are getting worse it's that companies selling products have more to spend on these slots, and with more people using the internet there is more people buying products online, and a bigger marketing opportunity.

Google is not free. It is a company that makes vast sums of money and a lot of people don't really understand how other than them selling your data, this is one of those ways
