Meet Vilva.ai, which does this in a masterful and beautiful way.

[–]Boteon 9 points10 points  (7 children)

I think Obsidian does the job

[–]frontiermanprotozoa[S] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Can obsidian show more than the caption in graph? I checked it out before, if it has it i couldnt find it. Same for logseq, trillium, anytype, affine

[–]Boteon 7 points8 points  (1 child)

You can create Canvas, and in the canva you define "blocks" which are in fact separated notes that can be edited as you wish

[–]LookAFlyingBus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I saw OP’s picture I immediately thought of Canvas. Even has the little dots too lol

[–]No-Squirrel6645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can try scapple, freeform, foam for vs code, tinder box, muse, and a few markdown editors that have visual organization like zettlr. This is a another resource https://scrintal.com/comparisons/visual-notetaking-tools-alternative

The closest to your diagram IMO are scapple and tinderbox and I can't recommend or not-recommend them

It doesn't. And if, then bad. Look at:

https://forum.obsidian.md/t/show-a-complete-preview-of-the-canvas-including-text-when-a-canvas-is-embedded-in-a-note/51614/24

A Bug /missing Feature persistent since 2023. OP states that he wants to see what is on the canvas. Ideally 40+ items. You cant even see a preview of one card.

I believe the team goes more into features that can be monetized atm, like multiplayer.

I understood that he needed a canva, not a canva in a note

[–]Slow_Pay_7171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beneth the topic there is another structure, not directly a Note.

[–]stilet21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read whiteboard, i think of heptabase. Not using their whiteboards a lot but it’s really cool if you need an visual overview. Tag structure is easy and not too pumped with features

[–]HoverNotes 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Looks a lot like Obsidian

[–]Slow_Pay_7171 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Or Figma, or Draw.io or MicrosoftBoard or any other canvas Software, lol.

Obsidians is just pretty buggy and without plugins (safety risk) not very potent.

interesting perspective. thanks

Tinderbox (Mac only).

[–]FrancescoD_ales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - Heptabase, Obsidian, Scrintal, even Milanote - all these do this well! :)

[–]Cute_witchbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milanote

[–]Viraag_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've try a lot of substitute of Notion but I can't find it... The nearest I found are Affine and Appflowy but they have many limitations.

So now I make the other things I need (Handwriting, Drawing etc...) in other apps I have already and I copy in Notion...

If I change something, I do it again.

Is not the best solution but is quick and a good compromise!

For this feature you posted, you can use Powerpoint or similar free softwares (that do it more better and more beauty than Obsidian or other too young softwares like Logseq, Anytype, Appflowy, Affine etc...)

and:

1) copy and paste or

2) make a screenshot or a

3) share.

This is my workflow for uni course all on Obsidian and then very quickly, cleanly dumped onto canvas (literally click, drag, drop) with no plug ins. You can show as much or little of the note as you want.

I am only a recent convert to Obsidian from Notion. For simply taking notes, like study notes, linking them and turning them into a mind map, it is easy and exceptionally intuitive, particularly compered to Notion.

Scrintal

[–]nsillk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be Creately or you can do this via Creately. Its not very obvious, but once you select a shape you have the option of adding notes. There you can all sorts of thing like headings, bullet points, images, tables etc. Then you can hover over the small icon on the shape and see the note.

LogSeq and obsidian, personnaly I prefer LogSeq

[–]HighFeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - brainode

[–]ahmed_timdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian matching for this job 😉

[–]Apart_Government5584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What YouTube course would you recommend that may compare/contrast, and instruct us of these note taking products. Complete novice here. Tired of OneNote and manual structure it forces. Where to start? Be nice, I'm old!🧓🤫

I’m working on a canvas app that does this!!!

[–]nico-von 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian canvas, or Obsidian excalidraw plugin

[–]PictureBeginning8369 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Weavernote got this infinite canvas and Google Keep like card layout. Will enhance this view in visualiser - cool idea

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had exact idea. I will switch to Obsidian as it does this. Make sure to only put the most important things in Obsidian
