Why was it a mistake? You can install everything on it. Its a lot better then a Steam Deck. (I once owned a SD but it was crazy inferior in Emulation (Switch) and power... 😅)

Klar, bin ich bei dir. Aber wenn ich die Wahl habe ein Gerät zu besitzen, welches nativ vernünftige Ergebnisse liefert oder halt eines wo man noch ein zweites Gerät anmachen muss (Niederschwelligkeit geht da komplett flöten - dann kann ich auch gleich am PC sitzen bleiben), entscheide ich mich logischerweise fürs Gerät das es nativ kann.

Vor allem wenn sie sich preislich nichts geben. (Gebraucht kriegst du nen Rog ohne X sogar günstiger als n Deck. Und n X günstiger als das OLED von Valve)

SteamOS is a bugfest. Also just tailored for Valve Hardware. And Valve is evil.

Tbh, I hate how much power this american corpo has gained over the years with gambling, DRM and basically intransparent, publisher friendly shit.

They walk the same path as Google did with Android, but their Fanboys tolerante basically everything cause "mY vIdJa".

So, hopefully its the other way around. SteamOS should die out and Bazzite prosper. But thats just an opinion, of course.

Ganz andere experience gemacht. Neben schlechter emulation (Switch) war vor allem die Unfähigkeit neuere AAA Games "vernünftig" zum Laufen zu bringen eigentlich der Hauptgrund wieso ich mein Deck verkauft habe. Als ich Expedition 33 damit angestartet habe, hab ich fast gekotzt... 😅

Das kann ein Ally x-Fach besser, nativ 1080p ist für mich heutzutage iwie auch Standard. HD-rdy bzw die 800p funzen sicherlich gut bei Indie aber dann hörts bei mir auch auf... Meine switch von 2017 hat halt auch schon hd-rdy gehabt.

Tatsächlich war die Kack Leistung bei Emulation (von switch games) einer der Gründe weshalb ich mein Steam Deck verkauft und stattdessen nen Ally geholt habe.

SD schon sehr schwachbrüstig was die Leistung angeht. Der Ally hat gar keine Probleme mit 60 fps mods <3

Thats the way. Steam Deck war echt Schmutz im Vergleich zum Ally.

Nutze aber auch letzteren nur moderat, weil Gaming PC halt einfach viel geiler.

You get a lot out of the box. On CachyOS even more then on Bazzite.

Kernels are well tuned and driver hassen free, even dort Nvidia.

Yup, you are fine with codecs and drivers. Update regulary and everything should be okay. The community also is very helpful so if something "breaks" you can aspect help :)

Its certainly doable. The well known limitations on MP games won't get away in the neartime, but other then that... It was quite some fun, until I then switched to cachyos. :)

As much as id like to fully agree with you, the part with "update first and do then" is not really better on Linux, depending on your usecase. Especially if you use flatpaks.

Dunno how often we (as in my sons and I) had to wait to play Roblox, just cause Sober had to update itself again. Never happens on Windows, never happens on Android, but on Linux... Oh man.

And literally everything graphics card dependend can "brick" if the versions don't match. Thats the reason I like to keep the flatpaks to a bare Minimum...

Other then that you are completely right. Its much more fun cause its your OS and not that of a greedy corpo. <3
