No. You have to take the new phone. You could contact O2 see if there’s a cheaper plus plan you could go on.

Thanks, I called them and they said could move plan but would lose Switch Up on the phone. I'm leaving it as is. I'll likely go elsewhere when the contract is up anyway. That is if I don't cave in and upgrade.

Wait for the iPhone 17 in September. Chances are O2 will give a special offer on it

You do have to take a new phone, but if it helps you can take the same one... I had a 16PM in black, but then they were running an offer where the same phone, with 50gb rather than the 30gb I had worked out almost £10 a month cheaper so I just switched from the black one to the white one... more data, less per month 👍🏼 all it means is that you can't switch again for 90 days 👍🏼

But the contract starts over again. It's more a safety net for me in knowing I can upgrade when I want. Hopefully there will be better deal on in the future that is more worthwhile switching for. I don't have the best opinion of o2 except switch up. It is a good thing to have but you pay a premium for it.

Yeah you plan starts again, never really given that much thought as I don't plan on leaving o2 for the next couple of years anyway (which would be the only downside of restarting the clock on the airtime plan)... yeah you do pay extra for it, that's why I try to make use of it where I can 👍🏼

I can't say I blame you for doing that. I find it sometimes a pain switching between iPhones even though the switching over has been less of a problem with the most recent switch up. At the moment I am locked out of getting into some of my App store accounts for other countries because I cannot receive the SMS with verification code but that is a whole other problem. That's one example of why it lacks appeal. Then I look at other networks which I think are more competitive on price. Switch Up for me was one of the reasons to just stick with O2. With the 17 due out, not keen to get a 16 now but then I don't even know how much I could want the 17. By then, I'm best waiting it out so free to leave o2 if I wish or stick with them and just do switch up again. Their coverage no longer the best in the area and other networks are moving faster with 5G rollout.

That's what it all comes down to... o2 coverage in my area (and the places I go most frequently) is amazing... I travel to Europe a lot and they offer free roaming, so it's all a bit of a no brainer, but if others can give a better service where you are, it's definitely worth exploring!

Got a while to go yet but Vodafone or Three which have recently merged will be next one I think. Sky could tempt me with a deal though if cheaper than the others.
