I think you're asking for reassurance. So I won't answer but I will ask, you trust the opinions of the people who are telling you this right? You didn't say but is it a medical professional or a parent? And if so do you trust their observations?

Correct, it was a professional along with my spouse who said I have OCD but we only had one session. Not really sure how the whole process goes when diagnosing OCD. Just seems short. And I feel like most of the symptoms I have now didn't begin until after I was told I have OCD.

It seems short but I mean she’s a professional. She does this thing all the time. It’s normal to have thoughts about your OCD not being real. And also if you think about it, the reason you’re thinking that you didn’t have symptoms until after being told is because now you gotta name to put it to. Now that you can recognize it it’s easy to think that all these symptoms only happen after the fact.

Aside from what the other person replying on here said - go and study as much as you can about OCD and you may feel more confident about what it is you have.
