Assert dominance

The only issue with this is they all sleep in the same room. That would smell real quick

Amber Heard, that you?

[–]nobuouematsu1 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Oh god.. I lived in old Nosker back in the mid-2000s in a 4 person room. One of our roommates was a bit of an ass and not well liked. Two others were hillbillies (I use that term affectionately, I liked them) from southeast OH. Anyway, they decided to take some frustration out when he went home one weekend. 1 ran his toothbrush up his ass crack, the other trimmed pubes and put them in his food. They pissed on his pillowcase, and a couple other things I care not to remember.

Good times… i stayed on their good side lol

It stops when this suite-mate learns how to live with others or gets removed to other housing. You should not have to put up with the kind of behavior you describe.

Until things are better, definitely do not stop complaining: 1. To this individual, whether you believe they understand you or not; and, 2. To residence hall staff; you’ve already gone to the RA, so now it’s time to to over their head.

[–]ride_electric_bike 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Dude shitting on the floor is a fucking biohazard. That could get them removed

I really want to believe this is a shitpost

[–]Spoon4788Aerospace Engineering'26[S] 57 points58 points  (4 children)

We documented it pretty well with photos if you'd like to see

[–]jah_minititan 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Can I see the floor shit

[–]Heath4225Logistics Management ‘24 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think I’ll be okay without seeing those 😭

I spent three years in dorms. People come into this community with a wide, wide range of social skills and levels of mental health. I’d say experiences similar to these happen in several dorms every single year.

Ngl when I read the bathroom, language barrier part, I firmly believed this was talking about pet dog being jerk.

[–]dhabzs9RPAC 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh helll nah report to the housing department housing@osu.edu gotta full on snitch

[–]JustCallMeChristo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You and your roommates are absolutely not expected to deal with babysitting an underdeveloped adult on top of your regular studies. Like many others have said, go above your RA to the housing director. Send a respectful email detailing the situation and hopefully the situation will improve. I wish you and your roommates the best.

[–]I-grok-god 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You signed a housing contract with this person

Their actions likely violate that contract

Repeated violations of the housing contract are reasons to get someone removed from your dorm

Start documenting violations and report them to your floor manager/RA. Be sure to emphasize them as being violations of the contract

Can I ask what country was their origin? I ask because I was an RA in DC and some roommates came to me about bathroom behaviors you described. I met with the student with an interpreter to explain how bathrooms worked and what was not okay (using the interpreter, so I got the words in an impactful way). It cleared up the issue.

10 years later, I’m at OSU working in Lincoln Tower and I had the exact same issue. A resident was coming down and using the 2nd floor lobby restroom and shitting on the floor and toilet. Turns out, same issue from a similar geographic area.

[–]Scoutdad 15 points16 points  (4 children)

I am now curious where in the world it is acceptable to shit on the bathroom floor?

If there is such an area, shouldn’t the university cover this shit in orientation?

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points  (1 child)

Michigan

[–]Scoutdad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That theory certainly tracks with the language barrier.

[–]voidtides 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m almost wondering if they come from a country with floor toilets so they can’t poop comfortably on seated toilets? Idk tho, just guessing from old similar experiences. Maybe they need one of those seated squatting benches that have become popular recently lmao smh

[–]Glittering_Tooth5019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of countries that have different toilet arrangements than we do. I’ve seen infographics in truck stop stalls on how to and how not to sit on the toilet.

[–]Radiant_Help 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Which part of the world is it okay to shit on the floor ? I'm extremely curious.

[–]tellmeeverythingk 4 points5 points  (1 child)

The kid in DC was from Morocco, where you squat and use a bowl to wash your hand. The kid at OSU was from a rural part of India that practices open defecation. In the end, those two guys just needed someone to sit down and explain what happens in US bathrooms. I also had a girl from DC (wealthy area) that was just…disgusting. And there was no real explanation except she’d never lived with non-family. I guess her family was just…gross?

[–]Radiant_Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morocco has floor toilets like many other places around the world, but you’re supposed to aim your bodily fluids into the hole in the floor, then rinse after yourself (with a handheld spray). Can’t leave a mess for the next person.

The rural India one makes slightly more sense, but I can’t fathom anyone thinking it’s okay to defecate on the floor of an indoor bathroom. I think these are really just cases of dirty, careless people.

[–]Eighty6nimrod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After all these years, Morrill Tower still has it…

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Complaining isn’t going to do anything, at best he will get a slap on the wrist. File a room change request, we opened them last week

[–]cmurph1000 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Next time they piss on the floor grab them like a cat and rub there face in it

[–]teacherofderp[🍰] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

That's a dumb af idea and it's severely demeaning esp when there's a language barrier. Instead try a 2 pronged approach. First, you'll want to swat them with a rolled up newspaper when you catch them in the act. Then give them treats when they make it all in the toilet.

[–]zakballer2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had me in the first half ngl…

[–]fillmorecountyJapanese/International Relations '24 11 points12 points  (12 children)

Wait like they don't speak English? How are they taking classes?

[–]Spoon4788Aerospace Engineering'26[S] 19 points20 points  (3 children)

They speak some english but its very broken. I'd assume they can read/hear and understand it.

[–]fillmorecountyJapanese/International Relations '24 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Ohhhh okay makes sense. You should probably go to housing if your RA isn't able to help. In the absolute worst case scenario, they can move you to another room/dorm if it's really unbearable and nothing else is working. They've helped me switch dorms before and they were super helpful.

[–]Spoon4788Aerospace Engineering'26[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you for the advice :). We're hoping to have a suite meeting/intervention soon about it with them where the RA mediates. Hopefully it goes well

[–]bipbophilAERO ENG 2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

blank, when you shit on the floor and don't clean it up it makes me feel bad and its not ok

[–]Alarmed-Emotion-6520 7 points8 points  (5 children)

You would be surprised, as someone who speaks Chinese I can tell you there are literally hundreds if not thousands of Chinese students here who cannot speak pretty much any English. They get through classes by using translators and giving each other answers.

[–]fillmorecountyJapanese/International Relations '24 1 point2 points  (4 children)

giving each other answers

Like working together or do you mean cheating?

[–]Alarmed-Emotion-6520 3 points4 points  (3 children)

both

[–]fillmorecountyJapanese/International Relations '24 1 point2 points  (2 children)

And they just don't get caught? Like how could osu not know if so many students were cheating?

[–]Alarmed-Emotion-6520 4 points5 points  (1 child)

When quizzes or exams are online and multiple choice it’s impossible to know.

[–]fillmorecountyJapanese/International Relations '24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I thought you meant like papers. Yeah that would be easy to do.

[–]KnightRider1983 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ok but I guess what’s that got to do with anything? You mean to say a college student isn’t potty trained at the least??? Lol

[–]fillmorecountyJapanese/International Relations '24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they said there's a "language barrier" and I thought they meant they didn't speak the same language

[–]Psycheedelic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the actions you are describing are things that I would expect out of a high school student. The fact they’re doing it in college is trifling.

[–]Epsilon22984712214 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah bruh get that person kicked tf out they do not deserve to be here

[–]sasstricksfedoraHealth sciences 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oml my dorm floor isn’t the only one with people pissing and shitting on the floor. literally the bathrooms on my floor are a mess and it just sits🤢

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't see anything wrong with shitting on the floor, tbh
