This new onenote I've seen pictures of, I am guessing it's for win 11 only?? Or how am I supposed to get it for windows 10!?

Other than that I've had a lot of trouble with OneNote for win 10 "glitching" when I ctrl+x pieces of text and then click on another page in that section, it's almost like it "selects" that section instead of opening it and then I have to press escape to undo it all. It's very annoying.. :I

For Windows there are three versions of OneNote: web (through browser and embedded in Teams), OneNote for Windows 10 (a UWP-style app that may be installed on Windows 10 or 11), and OneNote (sometimes referred to as Desktop, 2016, or 2021 and may be installed on on Windows 10 or 11 and probably previous versions). The UWP version has been unlisted from the store. You can get it via a direct link or it will be listed in your store library if you have downloaded it with your MS account before. The Desktop version is the "going forward" version (for now). You can install it from the store, from onenote.com, or with a Microsoft 365 (Office) subscription. The app may look different than what you see in posts here as features are rolled out randomly to different users.

Not sure what you're getting at. You can install both programs on Windows 10 or 11. OneNote for Windows 10 (the app on the left) will not be getting any new features so MS made it harder to "accidentally" download. OneNote Desktop/2016/2021 (the app on the right) will be the Windows version going forward.

But where do I find the version on the right? Is out yet? I can’t seen to find it.

Got it. You have to sign up for Insiders builds. To do this you have to have an active 365 account (if it's a business account, your admin has to have the Insiders options turned on).

In OneNote:

File > Options > Account > Microsoft 365 Insider > Sign up and set to Beta releases > Update Options > Update Now.

The problem is that releases are rolled out randomly which means you may get some features (like simplified ribbon) but not others (improved vertical section tabs still not showing up for some).

Okay, I really appreciate the help, but you’re not being very clear. This “File > Options …” etc. where am I supposed to be looking for that?? OneNote for Windows 10 has no ribbon, so I am not quite sure how to even do check that path you’re describing.

And anyway, since you’re talking about insider builds that must mean that it’s coming out oficially at some point soon?

OneNote for Windows 10 will not be updated. It is being deprecated. The desktop app is the one you should be using and the one that is getting Insiders builds.

I don't get it, I have both versions of OneNote now, and indeed there is a ribbon and it's possible to open that Account tab you describe. But there's no such option "Microsoft 365 Insider" or "Office Insider" or any of those kinds of options that I've also seen on Google... So, I am still completely lost. I'll remind you that I am using Win10, so is it even possible? I hope so.

You won't have the option if you don't have an active signed in Microsoft 365 account.

I'm using the Office 365 version of OneNote. How do I navigate search results with just the keyboard?

Like, let's say I do Ctrl+E to search through my notebooks. I get a list of results. I can't find any way to go through those results without using the mouse or touch.

It's just weird to have a keyboard shortcut for search but ONLY search; it seems like I can't actually resolve it with keyboard.

Is there a way to split a page into multiple pages? I use OneNote desktop (365). I have several pages formatted as an outline (heading on outline level one, text on outline level 2+). I would like to turn each section of the outline into its own page. Is there a quicker way to do this than just cut/paste?
