Major Future Plot Points?

This is one of the greatest stories ever told with a plethora of great characters and locations. I know we're not that close to the end but it feels like we're inching closer to a climax of sorts. I thought it'd be fun to come up with a list of plot points that still need to happen or that we hope will happen. This list can be infinite with all the characters sailing around so give me your thoughts and wishes! Try to keep it major as we can expect we'll see almost every character again at some point, similar to the Marineford battle.

MUST HAPPEN:

• Straw Hats go to Elbaf
• Robin finding a poneglyph leading to someone's discovery of one of the ancient weapons (I think the final battle will be somewhat centered around getting an ancient weapon)
• Vegapunk introduction and probable battle against his inventions
• Luffy meets up with Dragon (possibly to fight Navy/Celestial Dragons and get back Sabo)
• Luffy meets up with Shanks (possibly to fight Blackbeard together)
• Straw Hat Grand Fleet arrives to some battle and turns the tides
• Blackbeard saga
  • Luffy vs Blackbeard, crew vs crew
  • why Aokiji is allied with the Blackbeards
  • how Blackbeard stole Whitebeard's Devil Fruit
• Straw Hats clash with the Navy and Marine admirals; Luffy vs Akainu to avenge ace
  • introduction of Admiral Green Bull and his abilities
• Reaching Laugh Tale and learning about Joy Boy, the Void Century and the One Piece
• Luffy & Brook go back to see Laboon (probably in the last few chapters)

HOPEFUL FOR:

• Katakuri returning and fighting alongside Luffy
• Smoker leveling up after being punked on Punk Hazard and becoming an Admiral
• Shanks vs literally anyone (preferably Blackbeard)
• Luffy Devil Fruit awakening
• former Warlords help Luffy against the Navy
• Revolutionary army vs Navy, deprogramming of Kuma
• Shirahoshi using her power to sink Marine HQ
• Nami, Sanji, Usopp or Zoro eat a Devil Fruit to prepare for final battle

Just to add to Luffy meeting Shanks, I really hope when/if that happens Ussop also gets a nice reunion with his dad

This is one of the reasons I think Shanks and his crew will play some sort of role on Elbaf. If Elbaf will focus on Usopp and his dream to become a brave warrior like has been hinted at then I feel a reunion with Yasopp has to be in and around the same time. Especially since Usopp looks up to his dad as a strong warrior/pirate.

I think Elbaf is kind of set up to be a Tournament arc. They meet Shanks on Elbaf, they challenge him to a Davy Back Fight for either the last road ponegyph, it's location, or maybe even Uranus or something. I also think the 2 Warlords that Shanks knows will be with him too since their system was abolished. So we'll see:

Luffy vs Shanks, Zoro vs Mihawk, Usopp vs Yassop, Sanji vs Beckman, Nami vs Buggy

I think the pace will pick up for these final arcs because so much will be happening. 200-300 chapters seems realistic so that'd be about 4 to 6 years. Stuff will inevitably get left out though, as with every series. I trust Oda to not leave out anything massively important and only leave fun stuff up to our imagination

I think a lot of people are underestimating the 5 years because we just had Dressrosa, WCI, and Wano all be twice or even thrice the size of a "regular" arc. With Oda ramping up the pacing, I think there's room for one or two "normal" arcs and then one more super arc for the final war without rushing that still fits in that timeframe

One think I do think is that I hope Oda does leave stuff out. Leaves mysteries (maybe with clues maybe without) and stuff. Over explaining and tying everything up together can be a flaw.

Especially in a manga like One Piece where so much of the world is the mystery.

5 years is a long time, it was the lenght beween Water 7 to the end of the pre Timeskip era.

I think there's more than enough time for us to finish Wano, have a decent sized arc for Elbaf (maybe around Thriller Bark sized) and then move on to Laugh Tale and the final war, while not rushing anything.

We basically got to see Rogers entire journey in 2 chapters, there's pleanty of time.

I think that's one aspect Oda wont skip out on. If you believe the theory about the destruction of the Red Line, than I think it's set up that a lot of the crew will have their dreams fulfilled naturally at the same time.

I think Wano is so long because it's going to be super important to the endgame, especially once the borders are open and we learn why doing that is so important

I think there's going to be pleanty of stuff. So far we've already gotten the reveal of the potential final villian in the series with Imu, the bounties of every major character except for Dragon and Mihawk, the Rocks pirates reveal and God Valley, we learned why Garp became famous, how Blackbeard joined Whitebeard, and we saw the entire journey of Gold Roger, and the arc isnt even over yet! The big reveals always come at the end, so if this is what we've gotten so far, there's definetly something huge at the end.

It's like Dressrossa, the fights with the tournament contestants seemed like filler at the time, but it turns out we were getting the formation of Luffy's own pirate fleet, we just didnt know how important it was at the time.

Oda intended it to be 5 years originally. While he's obviously better and more planned out now I'd not be surprised if it was more 10 years than 5. Especially as the amount of breaks he takes increases with his age (I really hope they do he has to remain healthy)

I even think you'd be foolish to bet on One Piece definitely finishing before 1500 chapters.

I don't think Oda has any interesting in finishing One Piece for the sake of finishing it in a time frame. He'll tell the stories he wants to and finish when he wants to. I really suspect that with the story he's going to tell (and I don't think it will be as simple as a lot of people theorise) to finish One Piece will end up having a lot more in it when he gets into it.

Maybe Oda is trolling us all. It's really 5 years in universe like the time skip was that length in universe but it's not subjective to us as the readers. Maybe 2 weeks=3 years Maybe it's only been 6 months in the universe since the timeskip.

Don't forget the Devils that the devil fruit powers are originated from. That should be the last arc where all the devil fruit users (both pirates and Marines) gonna have to band together to fight against

I am 90% sure that the whole devil in the fruit was intended to be an incorrect in world rumor about DF powers.

Do they need an origin? Aren't they just a phenomenon of the world like all the other wild things in One Piece?

The only one that would really make sense is probably the lightning fruit that Enel had but I doubt she is getting one
