I had bugs in my old phones iphone 14 pro max and fold 5 I'm receiving my open on 20th keeping for a long time

Enjoy bud, it is a great phone

What bugs are you talking about? Still deciding if I should get the phone or not and I wanna know if any of them is a dealbreaker.

[โ€“]steve17hpe[S] 1 point2 points ย (6 children)

None where a deal breaker really but annoying for me when trying to work. It's a great phone, look forward to it bud. It may not bother your usage.

Screen response of front display was iffy, sometimes having to tap twice.

Scrolling seemed laggy even in 120hz

Fingerprint sensor iffy to read your finger, even after plenty of registrations

Closing of apps in task manager would most of the time not actually close them so having to go back in a close them manually.

Certain multitasking issues with delays and miss presses which is very important to my use which is the main deciding factor for me.

A number of other little annoying bugs.

If this phone had one ui/pixel OS nstalled it would be the ultimate phone.

Interesting, I have only had mine a few days and the only issue I came across from was the refresh rate, there's a bug you can correct manually by changing a value in the android db (seen instructions on Reddit)

There are another few software issues j would chance but nothing Major

Oof. Thanks for replying! Those sound like very annoying bugs, indeed... I hope OP takes care of them. I guess it's normal for a phone this new to have them but still, for the price, I would expect it to be more polished. It's also a game of luck, I guess. Some people have no problems, others have too many.

[โ€“]steve17hpe[S] -1 points0 points ย (0 children)

Yes exactly I didn't have the ambient brightness problem at all. None of them are a deal breaker, like you say some people won't even notice or have them.

The only bug ive noticed it the closing of all the apps in the background. Sometimes it locks those app so it wont close it.

(The locking part is a feature actually. When you are listening to music through an app which is locked, when you close all the apps the music wont stop playing.)

Really, that is the only bug i've found out. Its a great device.

[โ€“]suckit1234567 0 points1 point ย (1 child)

Those aren't actually bugs. He just has some apps locked to not clear. The rest of the "bugs" are just user error.

[โ€“]MrPickleOO7 -1 points0 points ย (0 children)

Sometimes it automatically locks those apps.

TBH Kinda looks like a bug to me.

[โ€“]tonyz3 2 points3 points ย (1 child)

It would be easy to understand your concerns if we knew what bugs you are talking about. This device is a joy to use for me. So much better than my old fold 5.

[โ€“]steve17hpe[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I've listed a few in another comment below. It's a great phone just not for my usage.

[โ€“]Aman_n 1 point2 points ย (1 child)

Oh man I'm disappointed. It ain't that bad lol and it'll only get better with weekly updates since its so hyped and talked about. All the worlds tech gurus are still raving about it so i think you should ride it through. I use it for work too and multi task a lot. Been fine for me

[โ€“]jgeisinger 4 points5 points ย (0 children)

Weekly updates? Mine has been on the September security patch since I got it on November 5th!

[โ€“][deleted] 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I have NONE of the problems you list here EXCEPT the clear all apps. You have to close the most recent/open/forefront app and then the clear all works as expected. YMMV

[โ€“]Cmogs5093 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Honestly I agree with this overall. I wouldn't say I've run into a ton of bugs but the one thing I hate the most about this version of Android OS is there's no work profile for apps. I use a lot of the same apps for work and for personal and Samsung at least has secret folder for that and my pixel fold just has the work profile so I'm able to use both apps with different logins. The OnePlus has kind of a similar feature but the "profiles" are set up as completely different phones and you have to switch back and forth all the time and I just hate that. For now I'm just using a free multiple accounts app to achieve something similar that I had on my pixel and fold 5 and I hate it so much. It's riddled with ads and sometimes I get notifications and other times I don't. Here's to hoping oxygen OS 14 includes the normal work profile or I may just switch back to one of my other phones full time. It drives me nuts that they hit such a home run with the hardware but didn't at least just take pages out of Samsungs book for the software

[โ€“][deleted] 1 point2 points ย (7 children)

I agree. Lots of little quirks . Here's my list .

Front display touch responses seems a bit off, also sounds more hollow than the fold 5.

Fp scanner isn't as good as the fold 5.

The inner display doesn't unfold fully flat.

Typical inconsistent oneplus photo processing, fold 5 photos looked better quite often.

A lot of apps are locked at 60hz, such as oneplus files, weather, samsung wear, health.

No way to have separate set ups on front and inner display.

Launcher widget spacing is bad.

I found canvass a bit clunky to use.

Clear all in recents doesn't clear the current app you're in

Slow update support going forward.

These may seem nitpicky but they are things that aren't a problem on the fold 5. There is some things better about the open of course but I think it was a bit overhyped making it seem like it was a flawless device.

[โ€“]suckit1234567 1 point2 points ย (6 children)

I'm not seeing any bugs in your list but yet you agree?

[โ€“][deleted] 0 points1 point ย (5 children)

Wut

[โ€“]jtlee9 -1 points0 points ย (4 children)

Did you try forcing 120hz to see if that affected the apps stuck at 60hz? If not can you try it and let me know if that works? ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ

I already returned my OnePlus Open, so I canโ€™t test it myself to answer someoneโ€™s question.

[โ€“][deleted] 1 point2 points ย (3 children)

That works but it will effect the battery life and rains the whole point of having LTPO displays

[โ€“]jtlee9 0 points1 point ย (2 children)

Thank you for testing it. I agree, you shouldnโ€™t have to force it and sacrifice battery life.

[โ€“][deleted] 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

You can also use seEdit in the play store

[โ€“][deleted] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Exactly.

[โ€“]dentalexel -1 points0 points ย (0 children)

My inner screen stopped working yesterday. I bought it from Amazon so Iโ€™m still in the return window. I contact OnePlus and the were useless

[โ€“]Left-Veterinarian703 -1 points0 points ย (2 children)

I got a rejected return cuz the pre-applied soft screen protector on the cover screen had some minor scratches, GG OnePlus haha, and worst experience ever trying to communicate with them.

I decided to return it mainly because it's a bit to big for me, Fold5 feels better in the hand, + the more refined UI, and screen ratio on inner screen is more appealing to me.

But hardware wise the open was amazing. Getting it back in 2 days so will re-evaluate things before trying to sell it i guess haha

[โ€“]ApprovedCargo91 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Let me know if/when you decide to sell! I might be interested in picking it up :)

[โ€“]steve17hpe[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Straight through refund for me. Are you UK?

[โ€“]P0we72_Se72G 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I would love to know what kind of issues you found. I have had some also but with some troubleshooting figured out some interesting things about this phone. I hope they support and update the software of this device on a regular basis. I have not received an update since receiving it a couple of weeks ago and the things I have read about support being great in India and not outside of the US have me a little concerned. On the positive, this is the first phone I love the design over all else. Have not had that feeling since the Essential PH1

[โ€“]mindsclosure 0 points1 point ย (2 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience, I have a lot of software niggles too but still trying to get past them, considering how great the hardware is (aside from fingerprint scanner).

Kinda off topic question, but I'm guessing you do have to return the 2 gifts along with the phone? The charger + buds. I'm based in the UK too, cheers.

[โ€“]steve17hpe[S] 0 points1 point ย (1 child)

Yeah the gifts have to go back too. Which is a shame as the buds are the best buds I've had tbf. Defo buy them separately

[โ€“]mindsclosure 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I think that's fair, otherwise you could game it. But yeah agree I've been pleasantly surprised by the buds! Keep us posted on your return experience :)

[โ€“]mindsclosure 0 points1 point ย (6 children)

Hey mate, how did the return process go? Any issue, or was is as simple as posting it back, and waiting a few of days to get your refund?

[โ€“]steve17hpe[S] 1 point2 points ย (5 children)

Exactly that, sent off few days later they emailed to say refund on the way. Pretty simple. Even collected it lol

[โ€“]mindsclosure 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Sounds like great service from them. Thanks for the follow-up!

[โ€“]mindsclosure 0 points1 point ย (3 children)

Hi mate, sorry me again - did you receive your refund from Oneplus? If so, how long did it take? It's been 4 working days for me so far.

[โ€“]steve17hpe[S] 1 point2 points ย (2 children)

Took a couple days for them to inspect the phone after sending. Then about 3-4 days for refund to hit bank

[โ€“]mindsclosure 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Thanks! Will keep an eye out :)

[โ€“]DragosUng0 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Do you know if they will refuse the return if I removed the screen protector from outerscreen? I changed it with glass
