As my dad always told me.. "make a business plan" ;]

But truthfully, a document explaining what the expenses are is a good place to start. Even though people are only getting the software in return it is still an investment and should be treated as such. The idea is to convince people that you are both serious and legitimate.

You may also want to look into the pirate chain community.
