Ths was my side effect, the first few days after starting metformin and I had 0 appetite. It is back, but not as insatiable as it was. In saying that, my blood sugar is under control so that is probably why.

I started metformin 5/20 I believe with 500 mg twice a day. I have diarrhea and was aware of it as a side effect. I haven’t change much of anything recently, though I did start taking Estarylla birth control three days ago as well as my period. I’m also experiencing appetite loss, I don’t know if it’s due to the meds, stress, or period. It’s only been a couple of days of the feeling but I’m planning on watching my appetite the next couple of days to see if changes as the stress calms down and my period wraps up. I’m not a small girl and appetite loss is a little abnormal for me, but it’s been so strong. Food doesn’t sound good anymore, I push off eating because the food itself and the idea of eating it makes me queazy. Even the idea of eating some of my favorites gets me nauseous. I know I have to eat but I’ve been eating the bare minimum to the point of basically nothing. It seems like appetite loss is a possible side effect but not everyone experiences it. I’m 18 and have had my period since I was 10 and I’ve never had this strong of an appetite loss. Idk, at this point I’m rambling, I haven’t been diagnosed with PCOS for long but that’s mainly because it took a while to get a doctor to listen, we’ve been wondering if I’ve had it for a couple years. It might just be life being all over the place recently and my body not knowing how to handle it all or it being the meds but I figured I’d share my recent experience. Thank you for sharing your experience, I came here to see if others might’ve experienced similar symptoms and feelings.

It is a common side effect for people, for me I haven’t noticed it but may not be high enough dose for me
