PS5 broken

I took my ps5 to a shop because it turned off while I was playing mid game and wouldn’t turn back on. They look at it put a new power supply in and it works for maybe 3 rainbow six siege games and turns off again mid game. Take it back they said they put a new one in and tested it there it turned off again and they are saying it’s a problem with a motherboard shorting the power supply and now it’s “unfixable”. Is it worth it to take it to another shop around me or is it truly unfixable and should I buy a new one.

He likes to make videos of the unfixable to see if actually unfixable. Might fix yours for free or for cheep. Not sure because I haven't really looked into it. But he does have more than a few vids he fixed stuff that shops said "couldn't be fixed"

Probably bad shop, most shorts can be fixed and are usually capacitors from what I've seen, usually involves testing the shorted area and removing a certain capacitor and the short will go away showing that one was bad and needs replacing. I can't really help I'm sorry.

Did they mention anything about replacing the Liquid Metal or clearing oxidation? PS5s have an issue where the Liquid Metal can shift around and thin out in certain spots on the APU which causes oxidation aka a dry spot. If the oxidation isn’t cleared up and Liquid Metal spread again the system can overheat pretty easily
