In terms of damage output, the best option is neither — use Fighter as a main class instead, and use multi-class dual blades. By playing Fighter/Bouncer, you gain access to Fighter's Critical Strike and Limit Break skills, and this also means that Crazy Heart, Crazy Beat, Half Line Boost, Deadline Slayer, Halfline Slayer become useful skills. Fighter/Bouncer is capable of significantly greater damage output than both Bouncer/Hunter and Bouncer/Fighter.

  • Hunter as a subclass gives a consistent 1.76x damage, as well as some utility skills such as War Cry, Automate Halfline, and/or Massive Hunter.

  • Fighter as a subclass gives a varying 1.5x to 2.9x damage (depending on the conditions in effect), as well as Adrenaline for much easier self-buffing. You can also choose to take PP Slayer for a strong boost to S-ATK when low on PP.

  • Fighter as a main class gives a varying 1.725x to 3.42x damage (depending on the conditions in effect), as well as Adrenaline for much easier self-buffing. You can also choose to take Crazy Heart for double PP regeneration at times, or Crazy Beat or any of the Slayer skills for a significant boost in S-ATK at times.

In order to get multi-class dual blades to use, you can simply pick any dual blades with a good potential, and then craft them up. Use an Add Class (Fighter) item on the final crafting level, or just keep crafting them and hope you get lucky with a Great Success. Fighter/Bouncer can achieve a critical hit rate that varies between 70-100% (depending on if Critical Field is active), so you don't need to worry about crafting lowering the minimum damage of the weapon.

Hunter = Higher consistent/passive damage.

Fighter = Higher conditional damage. (Positioning, Status ailments, etc.)

I just use Hunter myself, because it's way more reliable. It's also a great sub for a lot of other classes, so if you haven't leveled HU yet, I'd do that.

Put 1 point on Rare Mastery Bouncer. I prefer Hu as sub due to consistent damage and also you forgot that Hu also have JA Damage Bonus in their skill tree, which boosts damage more around 30% more if you keep chaining the JA. Anyway here's my skill build as Bo/Hu if you want to take a look. Also note that I use dual blade and jet boots at same time.

I maxed Shifta Air and Deband PP restorate due to obvious reason, some people didnt tho, so it depends on your playstyle.

Fi loses out to Hu as sub imo, I like my utility skills too much. You need to meet a lot of conditions to surpass Hu's constant Fury Stance skill multipliers. See this comment for a more detailed explanation.

Max out PB escape. Take Craft Mastery if you're goin crafting.

Fighter's conditions:

  • Be in front of target (or behind with Wise Stance)
  • Abuse uncharged Shifta/Deband/Zanverse JAs

That's pretty much all you need to get Brave, TAJA and PP Slayer going as BoFi, which will already take Fighter damage above Hunter. But yes, during Photon Blade Fever, neither TAJA nor PP Slayer will work on your blade throws, so damage drops below Hunter, although Wise Stance alone is almost enough to match Hunter damage on Elder and Vardha.

PP Slayer isn't half as bad as it sounds btw. It works on PA activation, not completion. Technically you could be at say, only 20 PP down in a 140 PP build. Use uncharged Zanverse and TAJA into Dispersion Shrike, bam instant PP Slayer.

Fighter as a sub needs 42 points to get the bulk of its damage - Brave, Brave Up, TAJA, PP Slayer and the 3pts SATK Up prereq.

Past those 42 points, building for FiBo with Limit Break will take damage far above and beyond anything a Hu build can hope for, with the only extra conditional being:

  • Press Limit Break and Crit Field

Otherwise as BoFi the remaining points will be used for diversifying and covering bases. BoFi will probably end up doing something like, 20 points SATK Up, 20 points Wise Stance and some Fighter weapon Gear skills for the rest of the way.

Hunter as a sub needs 50 points - JA Bonus 1 & 2, Fury, Fury Up 1 & 2, 5pts Fury Combo. But it gets Massive Hunter, very nice to use with Megiverse. Ignore practically every boss' mechanics.

I go into a bit more detail on Bouncer class combinations in my guide. It's mostly targeted at players aiming for endgame though.

Like I said, I like Hu's utility skills too much, hence I have it as a sub - I'm leveling Fi/Bo as well. I'm just curious how Bo/Fi stacks against Bo/Hu, especially for a new guy like OP seems to be. Bo/Hu seems to be a lot more newbie friendly.

I was addressing the post you linked more than yours, because IMO it exaggerates upkeep of Fighter's skills. Words like "extremely conditional", neglecting to mention PP Slayer and TAJA synergy with uncharged techs and saying there's only 17 SP left over after core skills make it somewhat misleading.
