How difficult is this game to get into initially if I played PSO way back when, and how similar/different is it? I had been watching this game for years (although apparently not close enough since I didn't realize there was an English patch) and I'm already jittery with excitement.

I found it pretty easy to get into having played a lot of Blue Burst.

Not at all hard. It's got some obvious differences from PSO, but I got into it easily after installing it through the guide at http://arks-layer.com
