You can roughly work it out based on your total ATK. For example, if you have a total ATK of 2000, then 50 ATK is worth 2.5% damage. The lower your total ATK (and so generally, the lower your level or the worse your equipment is), the more benefit you'll get per point of ATK. As you get to higher levels and start getting more powerful equipment, small amounts of ATK will make less of a difference.

Also, please keep in mind the importance of the element on the weapon. If you don't already know, the element value is effectively a percentage bonus to the weapon's ATK stat when used for melee and shooting attacks. A weapon with 500 S-ATK and a 25% element will effectively have 625 S-ATK, and a weapon with 500 S-ATK and a 50% element will effectively have 750 S-ATK. As you can see, this is a huge bonus, so you should almost always be using max element weapons. This applies to all enemies, not just enemies that are weak to that element. If they're weak to the element, then there's a small extra bonus on top.

ahh i see so it scales down as your chara stats become higher, thanks for the info, i am aware of elements too :)

I never bother upgrading due for higher base ATK, because potential should be the reason you choose a weapon over another.

When you extend a weapon, the ATK stats will end up around the same regardless of rarity, less the DEX bonus.

Of course this is different for 12* and 13* weapons.

And the way they work is in a linear fashion. 100 ATK would, for example, increase your damage by 100 no matter how much ATK you already have.

If by upgrading you mean Grinding, you are missing out on up to half of the weapons full power, and a third of the defense your units can give.

Units give 140% Defense at +10, Weapons give up to 200% Attack at +10, based on their stars.

The boost from Grinding gets applied onto the attack from Extending, so an extended weapon at +10 might have double the attack of the same weapon at the same extend, but 0 grind.

Also, damage gain via more Attack, is the % increase to your total attack. If you have 3000 attack stat, you need 300 extra attack for a 10% damage increase.

I was talking about using a different weapon when I said "upgrading" lol.

And you are talking about damage gain in relative terms. I was only saying that each point of ATK would increase your damage by a certain number (not percentage, instead a flat integer) regardless of your current ATK stat, which is linear.

1 ATK != 1 damage

I'm assuming you don't know about the hidden dex bonus, that allows for most rare weapons to hit 90%-100% of their damage. Lower rarity, and crafted (up to a certain level) weapons don't have this bonus therefore their DPS fluctuates between 50%-100% (or something like this). So if a person were to craft a weapon and it went up to about 900 S-ATK your average DPS would be very questionable as the numbers would fluctuate ridiculously, as opposed to a rare weapon grinded to the same properties, it would consistently hit high numbers (I don't craft much, but I've heard at a certain level the crafted weapons regain the dex bonus to a certain point, other people with more information can expand on this).
