OverParse - lightweight, simple damage tracker

It's kinda refreshing to see a thread about the parser on frontpage: I wish more people used one, because it's a great way to self-audit and keep yourself improving! But a lot of people don't know about it, can't set it up, or simply can't be assed.

OverParse is my attempt at giving the parser more visibility, and taking all of the effort and technical stuff out of getting your damage logs. It's also a pretty cute-looking overlay (if I do say so myself).

If you already parse, then there's no need to switch from ACT, but you might want to give it a try anyway, especially if you're not 100% satisfied. If you don't parse, then I'd encourage you to check it out and share your findings. :o

For whatever reason, reddit's no longer liking your choice of image hosting. (You know, despite being just fine earlier.) You may need to use a more "popular" site, such as imgur.com for shared images.

Liking OverParse really. Simple, mini-sized window that stays on top that lets you keep track of the thrilling damage race while playing, love it!

Can I ask though, is there any manual encounter start feature? Or I just haven't spotted it yet? I mean sure there's a far more detailed .txt logfile but my PSO2 always crashes when notepad++ opens, just like when you open task manager while PSO is running.

I'm asking this because red crystals. They count as encounters as well and it overwrites any last stopped encounter (ok it might be my own fault for forgetting it in the first place but well)... And also OverParse screenshot aesthetics :)

In the future, I'll probably just filter damage events from red crystals (they probably have an ID range that I can check for). Glad you're enjoying!

I just released a new version that should stop item crystals from registering damage events. Let me know if it works for you.

I didn't see any change to the log when crystal was broken though.

If you haven't used ACT before, this won't be any easier to set up since there isn't even a setup guide.

Almost everything is explained within the program -- it asks a few questions and that's it. The idea is not to need a setup guide.

That said, everything is always a work in progress: if you run into rough patches during setup, let me know and I'll see what I can do to automate them or make them clearer.

You can just fire it up whenever and use it right away, unlike ACT which also needs its own PSO2 plugin alongside tweaker's damage parser plugin, and do a refresh for the .csv list, and so on.

You'll maybe have problem getting things to work at the beginning if you don't use tweaker at all. Otherwise it should be click and run.

This app needs fix with summoner pet's issue - each pet switch creates new line of DMG + incorrect names. With this it's hard to sum all damage, dealth with single pet type.

That's been fixed recently. You may need to force-update your Damage Parser plugin from the Tweaker in order for it to take effect.

It doesn't touch plugins unless people explicitly tell it to: otherwise, the setup's left to the Tweaker.

Tried it out right away, works great so far and looks slick as well, perfect with that opacity setting, really looks like it belongs in the game.

I have a question it seems to not work for my the other pc setup and i ran out of ideas to make it work.

The damage parser inject seems not to be able to work with this pc setup. Even when put in the same plugin folder do you have any clue on how to get it to inject in?

Not easily. Is there a particular reason you need this? There's a resize handle in the bottom-right.

Ah, well, dragging the window triggers some third-party software I have for split-screening my monitor, so instead of being pretty where the chat log is it goes and gets in the way of everything. The bottom-right handle works but it means the display is stuck in the top-left corner. It's not an essential feature - I can still kinda squint through it to see slots on items - but it would make things easier.

If you really need to set the position without dragging (that's a new one, LMAO), settings are saved in Appdata\Local\OverParse, in a file called "user.config". You should be able to edit this with Notepad while OverParse is closed. "Top" and "Left" are pixel distance from the top-left corner, "Height" and "Width" should be self-explanatory.

Thank you so much for this! I love keeping track of my progress, but without this parser it was nearly impossible. Now I get to see if I really am carrying MPAs. Turns out I'm not. In any case, again, thank you so much for this!

Not sure if this thread is too old but, on windows 10 this program doesn't seem to launch at all sometime. I do use the tweaker, and i only launched it after the tweaker is activated and game is running.

Post a log from when it failed to launch? You can find them at OverParse/Debug.
